Instructional System

The Distance Education Program delivery system includes the multi-media approach, i.e., self-
learning print material, audio/video components, and assignments, counseling sessions, practical
work and workshops.

Printed Material:
The print materials are in the form of self-instructional materials for both theory and practical
components of the program. It is supplied to each student in the form of blocks. Normally each block
contains 3 – 5 units, and each under graduate program consists of 30 blocks of Print Material.

Audio and video programs:


The Audio and Video programs are supplementary, meant for clarification and enhancement of
understanding in various courses of the program. These are used during counseling and workshop
sessions at the DDE.

Assignments:
Assignments are an integral and compulsory component of the instructional system. There are tutor-
marked assignments for each theory program. The students will have to work on specified number of
assignments per program. These assignments are to be submitted at the DDE in accordance with the
submission schedule provided by the Program Coordinator/In charge of the respective DDE.

Counseling Sessions:
Generally the counseling sessions will be held at the DDE during Sundays and long holidays. Within
the general schedule of the program, the coordinators at the DDE will decide on the coverage of these
sessions. The program coordinator will also provide the counseling schedule. The counseling
sessions will include clarifications required in the print material and other related difficulties through
active interaction with students. Attending counseling sessions is optional.
Evaluation
Assignments
Students are required to do one assignments per subject (issued along with student study materials)
during each semester. These are structured to test the comprehension and application of learning
acquired through the reading material provided by the institute. Students are also expected to utilize
the library facility fully for additional reading material and self study. All these assignments, duly
answered, are required to be submitted to respective SDDE Centers by due date.

Project Work
The Project Work equips candidates with practical application of knowledge and skills relevant to
their area of study. All students are required to do project work under the guidance of a project guide
and submit a project report on completion within the stipulated date.

End Term Examination


End Term Exam is held twice in a year, normally in the month of June and December. All students are
required to qualify in the ETE.

Students should secure a minimum semester grade point average (SGPA) of 5. Student

Dr Mamta Bhatnagar has about two decades of experience in the area of distance and open learning.
She is gold medallist on Master of Distance Education, UGC-NET qualified in distance education,
Masters in Business Management and Certified Trainer for corporate programs. She has worked with
All India Management Associations (AIMA) and The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)
on regular basis and with IGNOU as an academic counsellor. She was founder Director of Dev
Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Gayatrikunj-Shantikunj, Haridwar for Centre of Distance . She has
published number of articles in national and international journals and is a member of various
committees at national level organisations and institutions.
