Govt.

Plans Centralised Digital

Entity For ‘Ayushman Bharat’
Scheme
The Indian government is in discussions to set up a
new digital entity called the National Digital Health
Mission that will act as a central digital repository for all
the data coming under its flagship health insurance
scheme Ayushman Bharat. A report filed by a commit-
tee set up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
has identified the need to establish a specialized body
called National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) which is
to be based on similar models as seen in the likes of
UIDAI and GSTN. The report is open for public com-
ments till August 4. Some of the proposed provisions
under the NDHM are – l Citizens should be able to
access their electronic health records in a convenient
manner, preferably within 5 clicks; l Citizens should
get integrated health services at a single point, though
multiple agencies, departments or services providers
are involved; l NDHM shall assure continuum of care
to citizens, across primary, secondary and tertiary care
and across public and private service providers; l A
framework for unified communication centre will be
prepared to facilitate voice-based services and out-
reach; l NDHM shall support national portability for
healthcare services National Digital Health Mission
Objectives:- The report also recommends that the
NDHB will be an open API-based ecosystem where
security and privacy will be built into the design and
development of the APIs, which will be audited for
security and privacy before deployment. The 14-mem-
ber committee recommended that consultations should
be held with Unique Identification Authority of India
(UIDAI), the Aadhaar regulatory authority, and the
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology
(MEITy) in the design of the Personal Health Identifier
(PHI). “Aadhaar cannot be used in every health context
as per the applicable regulations. The design of PHI,
therefore, must allow multiple identifiers (chosen from the specified types of identifiers) for designing the structure and
processes relating to PHI,” said a National Digital Health Blueprint (NDHB) created by a committee under former MeitY
Secretary and UIDAI ex-chairman J Satyanarayana. The PHI will maintain a personal health record of patients and will have
details about their immediate family, date of birth, gender, mobile number, email address, location, family ID and photograph.
India’s Ayushman Bharat Plan:- Under the Ayushman Bharat, India is expected to have 40,000 Ayushman Bharat Health
and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC), meant for primary health care, by the end of 2019-20. The mega public health insurance
scheme called Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and popularly known as the Ayushman Bharat, also has an app
on Google Play Store. At the Union Budget 2019, the govern- ment announced that it will allocate INR 6,400 Cr for the imple-
mentation of Ayushman Bharat. The allocation has increased by INR 4K Cr from 2017-18, while overall INR 10K crore has been
allocated to implement AB until 2020. Overall, the Indian health- care market stands at $100 Bn, according to IBEF and is
expected to touch $280 Bn by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 22.9%.

Prediabetes: 5 Easy
Tips To Reduce The
Risk Of Diabetes And
Stroke
Prediabetes is the condition when
your blood sugar is higher than
normal but not as much as a dia-
betic patient. Usually, you do not
see symptoms, and the disease
attacks your body without any
sign or symptom. You can find
this by making a simple blood
test. If you are overweight or if
your age is more than 45 and you
do not even exercise, then you
have a high risk of prediabetes.
Due to non-treatment, you are
more at risk for type 2 diabetes
and heart-related diseases but
with the help of a few steps, you
can change this situation. Lose
Weight:- You may find a terrible
task to lose weight, but there is
no big deal in this. If you reduce
your body weight by just 7 per-
cent, then it can make a huge dif-
ference. However, It is more
important to eat a healthy low-
calorie diet daily. Perhaps, it's
time to pay attention to the follow-
ing things: l weight l eating
habits l physical activities Eat
Healthily:- Filling your half plate
with non-starchy vegetables is a
very good start towards eating
healthy. A quarter of your plate
should be of starch food. Apart
from this, chicken, fish, beans,
etc. can be used in one-quarter of
the remaining. Be very cautious
with fried, deep-fried food or
carbs such as pasta because they
can increase your blood sugar. Exercise:- It's time to get out of the house and burn some
calories which will help you lose weight faster and you could feel better. Don't worry as you
do not have to prepare for the marathon. You can lose weight by walking 30 minutes daily,
five times a week. Making some workouts friends can also sometimes help you stay connect-
ed with it, so call a friend or join a gym and keep doing something new. Here are some
instances of physical exercise: l Aerobic exercise that includes walking, swimming, danc-
ing l weight lifting l pushups and pull-ups Get Proper Sleep:- Your sleeping time will help
keep your blood sugar at a normal level. If you have the following symptoms: l difficulty
while sleeping l wake up early l sleep less than 5 hours in the night then you are more like-
ly to get diabetes. About 7 or 8 hours of sleep is considered mandatory at night. Do not drink
alcohol or caffeine at night (before sleep). For better sleep fix a routine and sleep daily at the
right (fix) time. Moreover, try to create an atmosphere of peace in your bedroom. Quit
Smoking And Alcohol:- If you are addicted to smoking or drinking, then now is the time to

Goal Is To Make India A Global Model For ‘Health For All’: Harsh Vardhan
Dr. Harsh Vardhan began his second term as minister in the National Democratic Alliance – II government by cycling from home
to the health and family welfare ministry in Nirman Bhavan to highlight the importance of physical activity for health and green
transport for the environment. He had not even hopped off his bicycle when his staff informed him about a Nipah case being con-
firmed in Kerala, which was followed a week later by nationwide protests and strikes by doctors and health professionals after two
junior doctors were assaulted at Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College in Kolkata. Dr Harsh Vardhan speaks to Sanchita Sharma on
the firefighting his ministry has done over seven weeks and its plans for the next five years. Edited excerpts: Your taking charge
was immediately followed by one of India’s biggest doctors’
strikes. How can hospitals be made safer for doctors?
Doctors often work under stressful and difficult conditions and I
strongly condemn assault against them. The violence in Kolkata
that led to doctors’ strikes across the country gravely affected
healthcare services. The health ministry has set up a 10-mem-
ber committee on violence against doctors with representation
from the ministry, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Federation
of Resident Doctors Association, Medical Council of India,
AIIMS, and the Union ministry of home affairs and the law
department. The first meeting was on July 10th, during which
the home and law ministries concurred on the need for a central
legislation. It was decided to have the first draft of the proposed
Act readied within a week.I wrote to West Bengal chief minister
Mamata Banerjee, urging her provide a secure working environ-
ment to doctors. I also requested all chief ministers to consider
establishing specific state legislation or bring amendments in
existing state legislative acts to ensure doctors and clinical establishments function without fear of violence. What is the long-
term solution to end violence against doctors? Ensuring a safe environment for doctors and patients and involves multiple
stakeholders. Apart from taking all possible preventive and deterrent measures, state governments need to investigate all cases
of violence promptly and ensure that the criminals get prosecuted under the legal provisions available. The IMA’s draft act, called
The Protection of Medical Service Persons and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of
Property) Act, 2017, which includes clauses on penalty and recovery in case of loss or damage to property, has now been shared
with the states for their consideration. Nipah was confirmed in Kerala the day you took charge even as Muzaffarpur was strug-
gling to contain child deaths from acute encephalitis syndrome (AES). Kerala contained Nipah, but Bihar floundered. How can the
Centre ensure containment and treatment protocols are followed across states? You see, health is a state subject. The Integrated
Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) does surveillance to quickly detect and respond to disease outbreaks, providing addi-
tional manpower, training rapid response teams to investigate outbreaks, strengthening laboratories, strengthening ICT equipment
for data entry, analysis and data transfer, and providing funds for operationalisation. The Centre also supports states in implement-
ing communicable disease programmes, such as National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme that covers six vector-borne
diseases, including Japanese encephalitis and AES, which is of unknown etiology. So, what is causing the AES deaths in Muzaffarpur? AES describes a disease with symptoms of fever and altered
consciousness and has a very complex etiology. Studies were done on the possible association with litchi toxins in Muzaffarpur during 2013-14, but no definitive evidence linking AES to litchi toxins was
conclusively established. In the present outbreak, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has done research studies covering various aspects of the disease and I am hopeful we will arrive at sub-
stantial findings soon. Soon after taking charge, you requested all states that haven’t joined the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to launch the scheme.
Rajasthan has announced merging the state healthcare scheme with AB-PMJAY. Did you hear from Delhi, Telangana, Odisha or West Bengal? The implementation of AB-PMJAY across the coun-
try is undoubtedly the top priority. The scheme is going to be rolled out in Rajasthan and Punjab very soon. As a follow-up action, CEO, National Health Agency (NHA), visited Odisha and the state is pos-
itive about implementing AB-PMJAY. The NHA is working on the convergence plan. I expect other states to get on board sooner than later.
How many people have been treated under AB-PMJAY? Which are the best and worst performing states? The budget for
Ayushman Bharat went up 154.87% this year. Under the health protection scheme, there have been 32,07,000 hospitalisations and 8.9
crore cards issued till July 12.It is difficult to rate states as there are different parameters for performance, such as access, quality etc.
Some states that are doing better are Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jammu & K a s h m i r,
Daman and Diu, Gujarat, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh etc. The NHA continually monitors per-
formance of all states on different parameters and issues guidelines to improve performance.
How is primary health care, which can treat 80-90% illnesses, being strength-
ened? As you know, delivering Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) through health
and wellness centres (HWCs) is a key component of Ayushman Bharat, which is the fulcrum
programme being implemented to achieve the proposed goal of universal health care. Our
vision is to transform 150,000 sub-health centres (SHC) and primary health centres into
AB-HWCs in a phased manner. The target for 2018-19 was 15,000, and the cumulative tar-
get for 2019-20 is 40,000 and so on, till we achieve our goal by 2022. We are on track and
have at least 19,000 operational AB-HWCs. In addition to investments made through NHM
and other programmes to strengthen PHCs/SHCs, central funds are being gal- vanised. An
outlay of Rs 1,200 crore was made as central share for 2018-19, and another Rs 1,600 crore
for FY 2019-20. Till now, approvals for more than 52,000 AB-HWCs have been provided to states/Union territories. What about building human resources and
technical capacity in resource-deficit regions? Investments made by the Centre are intended to support creation of IT, upgradation of infrastructure, creat-
ing primary health care teams at sub-health centres, posting new cadre of non- physician health workers called community health officers, capacity building, and
expanding the range of medicines and diagnostics so that HWC become the first port of call for primary health care. There is a provision of primary health care
services related to maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition and some communicable diseases. AB-HWCs will also provide care for acute simple illnesses, screening, prevention and management of
chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, mental health, and care for chronic communicable diseases like tuberculosis and leprosy, and elderly and palliative care. All these additions are, of course,
incremental and the phasing will depend upon the states. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also being in public health, such as setting up an imaging bio-bank of cancer-related radiology and pathology images
of more than 20,000 profiles of cancer patients with focus on the major cancers prevalent in India. AI is also being used for early detection of diabetic retinopathy, which is a side effect of uncontrolled dia-
betes that can cause blindness. As health minister, which steps will you prioritise to ensure clean air? This is a subject that involves different ministries and cooperation from various stakeholders,
including state governments. During my tenure in the ministry of environment, forests and climate change, we launched the National Clean Air Programme to reduce air pollution through various meas-
ures. Cooperation from all stakeholders was sought to lower vehicular emissions, stop stubble burning etc., which adds to air pollution.Under the health ministry, the NCDC (National Centre for Disease
Control) is collecting data on acute respiratory illnesses reporting to Emergency departments of six central government hospitals in Delhi. The data is being analysed monthly to track how spikes in AQI
(air quality index) is linked with increasing hospitalisations. The ICMR is also conducting a study on ‘Health impact assess-
ment in 20 most-polluted cities’ in the country to provide an invaluable link between air pollution and health problems.
What are your two biggest priorities as health minister? Preventing all illnesses and ensuring the population has the
tools to stay healthy is a priority. One of
the key priorities is stopping tuberculo-
sis, which claims more lives than any
other infectious disease, by 2025.Moving
towards universal health care for each
and every citizen of India is the prime
minister’s dream and we will work hard
to make it a reality. The goal is to make
India a global model for ‘Health for All’.

Family History Of Heart Disease Is A Significant Risk Factor In Acquiring Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
More than 52% of deaths caused by heart diseases in the country are in people below 70 years of age. People with a family history are susceptible and therefore, the need of the hour is to
raise awareness on following a healthy lifestyle and undergoing timely checkups. AD impacts the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart, which can, over time, put a person at an increased risk
of a heart attack. Cardiac ailments can put a massive dent in the lives of people, especially those who are susceptible to it. While timely diagnosis and treatment are essential, it is also imper-
ative for people to start making healthy changes to their lifestyle from a young age. Dr Manoj Kumar, Director and Head - Cardiac Cath Lab, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Patparganj, New
Delhi, said, “People who have a family history of heart diseases are more likely to get CAD and have high build-ups of calcium in their arteries. It is thus important that they get their coronary
artery calcium levels checked at regular intervals. When the arteries stop supplying blood to the heart, CAD strikes. In this case, the muscles in and around the heart start narrowing. This hap-
pens due to cholesterol and plaque build-up on the inner walls of the artery. As the build-up increases, supply of oxygen toheart is reduced, leading to angina or heart attack. Blockage in the
arteries can develop from a young age. While some amount of it is common, wrong lifestyle choices can worsen the situation. If you have a parent or a sibling with a case of CAD, you must
take precautions right from a young age to avert the risk.” Adding further, Dr Manoj Kumar, said, “The tendency of premature CAD in Indians can be attributed to a genetic predisposition includ-
ing high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) or ‘bad’ cholesterol and metabolic syndrome. When combined with an unhealthy lifestyle, these can wreak havoc on the heart leading to early
mortality and morbidity. It is, therefore, essential to cultivate healthy habits right at the outset to reduce the risk of acquiring CAD and other heart problems.” CAD Treatment:- For CAD, angio-
plasty is one of the treatment options available. This is done to restore the flow of blood in the body. In this process, a drug-eluting stent is coated with time-release medicine. Some tips to
prevent CAD:- l Eat a low fat, high-fibre diet (including plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains). Limit your salt consumption to 6 grams a day. l Indulge in regular exercise to main-
tain a healthy weight. Exercise will also help strengthen the heart and increase blood circulation; reduce cholesterol levels, and keep blood pressure under check. l Smoking can cause CAD
and must be avoided. It is also imperative to reduce your alcohol consumption. l Ensure that your BP and cholesterol levels are under control. l Limited consumption of alcohol is suggest-
ed. l Proper sleep is essential to recover from daily wear and tear in the body.

10 Medical Innovations For 2019
Alternative therapies for pain, the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, an expanded window to treat stroke patients, are some of the innovations that will
enhance healing and change healthcare in the coming year. Alternative therapy for pain: fighting the opioid crisis:- The opioid crisis has been declared
a public health emergency. Today, chronic pain is the leading cause of opioid prescription. Though several clinically validated alternative therapies for chron-
ic pain exist, none have curtailed the crisis. Now, innovation and potential for hope come by way of pharmacogenomic testing, which uses a patient’s genet-
ic makeup to predict an individual’s metabolism of drugs, including some opiate-based drugs. Pharmacogenomic testing can be used to avoid adverse reac-
tions and eliminate unnecessary and ineffective prescriptions, replacing them with more effective medications. Pharmacogenomics can also be used to pre-
dict who may get little or no pain relief from using some opiate-based analgesics. Such patients might otherwise finish their prescription quickly and return for
a new prescription earlier than expected. Pharmacogenomics can provide the opportunity to tailor medication therapy. In 2019, with increased access to
genetic testing, pharmacogenomics is poised to make significant inroads into precision medicine and potentially end the crisis. The advent of artificial intel-
ligence in healthcare: Once thought as a futuristic threat to humankind, artificial intelligence is now a part of everyday life. In healthcare, AI is changing the game with its applications in decision support, image analysis, and patient
triage. Today, AI is helping physicians make smarter decisions at the point of care, taking the hassle and uncertainty out of viewing patient scans, and reducing physician burnout. For instance, machine learning algorithms have the
ability to highlight problem areas on images, aiding in the screening process. Additionally, with their ability to reduce clinical variation and duplicative testing while ensuring patient safety, decision support systems quickly make sense
of the mountains of data within a physician’s EMR system. With AI’s continued integration into healthcare, caring for
patients has become a matter of working smarter, not hard- er. Expanded window for acute stroke intervention:-
When it comes to stroke intervention, a timely response is critical. Prolonged lack of blood flow following a stroke can
cause irreversible destruction, often resulting in disability. In many cases of stroke, intervention methods can be
deployed to save tissue. But until now, an intervention of a stroke has only been recommended within a limited window
of time. Released this past year, new guidelines suggest an expanded window for treatment. This lengthened time-
frame is anticipated to lower the risk of disability and pro- vide an opportunity for recovery to an increased number of
future stroke patients. Advances in immunotherapy for cancer treatment:- Cancer immunotherapy, or biologic
therapy, is a technique that uses the body’s own immune system to fight cancer. While immunotherapies for cancer
have existed for some time, the worldwide work toward a cure for cancer continues to highlight new and novel
immunotherapeutic targets. Scientists are creating life- changing new cancer treatments through the concepts of
joint therapy and engineered T-cells. With the near-daily discovery of new immunotherapeutic targets and biomark-
ers, it is the hope that effective therapies will soon exist for all tumor profiles. Patient-specific products achieved
with 3D printing:- Utilizing 3D printing technology, medical devices can now be matched to the exact specifications of
a patient. Designed to be more compatible with an individ- ual’s natural anatomy, devices modeled from patient-specif-
ic dimensions have shown greater acceptance by the body, increased comfort and improved performance outcomes in
patients who meet specific medical requirements. The ver- satility provided by 3D printing gives medical practitioners
the ability to provide patients with the most advanced care, while simultaneously minimizing the risk of complication.
Currently, the most significant work in this space includes external prosthetics, cranial/orthopedic implants, and cus-
tomized airway stents for diseases narrowing the airway. Work in prosthetics and other bodily implants is also gaining
speed with some cleared for the commercial market. The technology has also been found helpful in surgical planning.
To date, the technology has been used for many complicat- ed heart surgeries. With its widening healthcare applica-
tions, 3D printing is increasing the attention to detail in patient care. Virtual and mixed reality for medical educa-
tion:- Virtual and mixed reality involves the use of comput- er technology to create simulated and hybrid environments.
Popular for their gaming applications, virtual and mixed reality, with their futuristic effect, never fail to dazzle audiences. But VR/MR technology is much more than a game. These reality systems have recently caught the eye of health-
care professionals eager to sharpen their skills. Now popular for medical education, VR/MR programs provide simulation training that serves to enhance traditional medical schooling. With this immersive style of learning, VR/MR
training appeals to all types of learners: audio, visual and kinesthetic. Education via simulation is a productive step toward the system’s most adept and confident healthcare providers. Visor for prehospital stroke diagnosis:-
Though less common than ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes – during which blood escapes from a ruptured blood vessel in the brain – are responsible for nearly 40 percent of stroke deaths. Rapid diagnosis is necessary for
effective treatment, as uncontrolled bleeding can lead to swelling of, and damage to, the brain. To speed diagnosis, healthcare professionals are using new, advanced technologies such as the hemorrhage scanning visor, which can
detect bleeding in the brain. An efficient diagnostic tool, the visor for prehospital hemorrhage scanning serves to speed up diagnosis and the ever-important time to treatment. Innovation in robotic surgery:- Most surgeries per-
formed today are the shortest and least invasive that science will allow. This adaptation in surgical methodology is brought about in part by the integration of robotics. Robots in the operating room provide surgeons with guidance for
extreme precision in surgery. Today, surgical platforms are highly advanced and are being used anywhere from spine to endovascular procedures. Shortened recovery time and limited pain after surgery are just a few of the patient
benefits seen with minimally invasive robotized surgery. Continued advancement in the field has led to more precise and effective surgeries
with improved surgical outcomes. Mitral and tricuspid valve percutaneous replacement and repair:- Cardiac surgery today is less inva-
sive and more routine and effective than its historic counterpart. Performed percutaneously — via a catheter through the skin — many car-
diac procedures no longer require an open heart. Two such procedures performed this way include replacements and repair of both the mitral
and tricuspid valves. Hot on the trail of aortic valve percutaneous intervention, recent percutaneous mitral and tricuspid valve intervention
has yielded significant positive outcomes while filling a void in the field of heart surgery. The exploration of this technology in a greater patient
population is ongoing, but with promising postop results, the innovation has significant implications for the future of cardiac care. RNA-based
therapies:- Akin to DNA-based gene therapies, RNA-based therapies are the newest innovation in labs nationwide and have shown
immense potential. Interfering with genetic data at the ribonucleic acid (RNA) level gives scientists the ability to intercept a patient’s genet-
ic abnormality before it is translated into functioning (or nonfunctioning) proteins. Today, the most popular and successful mechanisms of
RNA therapy include antisense nucleotides and RNA interference. These new therapies are being explored in a variety of rare genetic dis-
eases such as Huntington’s disease, as well as in cancer and neurologic diseases, with the hope of treatment by way of alternate genetic
data. These new mechanisms of action are opening windows for progress and innovation in therapeutics.

Cipla Eyes Chinese Respiratory Market Through JV With Jiangsu

Acebright
Drugmaker Cipla Mob:- 08868060741 a prominent name in the respiratory segment in India,
is now eyeing the Chinese market through a manufacturing joint venture in the country with
Shanghai-based Jiangsu Acebright Pharma to make respiratory drugs in China. Respiratory
illnesses are a major cause of death in the country. Cipla (EU), a UK-based wholly owned sub-
sidiary of Cipla, and Jiangsu Acebright Pharma will set up a JV in China, where the former
would hold an 80 per cent stake and Acebright would hold the remaining for a combined
investment of $30 million. The JV will set up a manufacturing facility of respiratory products.
The plant is expected to be commissioned in 2020. “While our core home markets remain our
current growth anchors, we see China as a crucial part of our future road map. In May, we
inaugurated our office in Shanghai. We have a long-standing relationship with Acebright, and
this partnership to build a manufacturing facility in China is a significant step for us,” said
Umang Vohra, managing director and Global chief executive officer of Cipla. Cipla has already started clinical trials of
a dry-powder inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate Salmeterol or FPSM) in China. It had launched FPSM in eight European
countries and also in Australia. In an earlier interaction with Business Standard, Vohra had indicated that in two to four
years, the company expects to see good traction from the Chinese market. “In two to four years, we will see good trac-
tion from the Chinese market. It is essentially a branded market and the size is huge. While it takes patience to enter
the market, it does offer great potential,” Vohra had said. In fact, after establishing a stronghold in the domestic mar-
ket, Cipla is eyeing the next leg of growth in the segment to come from global markets. The company enjoys a 67 per
cent share across the Indian subcontinent’s respiratory market and sees potential for a 14-15 per cent growth as the
market is under-penetrated. In India, respiratory constitutes a 31 per cent share in the overall revenue. Most of the res-
piratory products that Cipla has lined up for the international markets have a market size of around $2 billion or so. The
competition is expected from three to four players. It sees $100-million revenue from each of the key products (gener-
ic Albuterol, FPSM, and generic Advair) depending on how many other players get approval. The $100-bn Chinese mar-
ket too has potential for respiratory drugs. Cipla thus sees a potential in the market which is largely dominated by multi-
nationals like GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Boehringer Ingelheim among others. “We are keen to take our well-estab-
lished expertise in the respiratory segment to patients in China. Simultaneously, we will explore various routes to build
a portfolio of products in other therapeutic segments such as oncology,” Vohra added. The company does not have sig-
nificant exports to China at the moment “We do not have a significant export presence to China right now. The focus is
broadly respiratory products through local manufacturing and other therapies through import and other potential routes.
We are looking at the oncology segment for instance,” said a Cipla spokesperson. Jiangsu Acebright Pharmaceuticals
Co is a subsidiary of the Shanghai Acebright Pharmaceuticals Group. Acebright Group, established in 1996, is mainly
engaged in anti-viral, oncology products and vitamin ingredients. It is a supplier of anti-viral and oncology active phar-
maceutical ingredients (APIs) APIs for global market and a manufacturer of finished dosage products to meet HIV/AIDS
and cancer patients’ needs for China market. Shengping Xu, chairman of Acebright Group, said, “We have a long-stand-
ing partnership of more than 20 years with Cipla which shares our vision and approach towards patients. We….strong-
ly believe the joint venture will bring more products to Chinese patients in the respiratory segment.”
