CHAPTER 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Challenges is something difficult that you feel determined to solve or achieve.

Challenges is something that puts you to the test. Challenges is rise to deal successfully

with a difficult situation or problem. Challenges are closely combined with difficulties or

obstacles. Challenges give you experience this is one of many ways of becoming

smarter. The knowledge you gain gives you ability to make less mistakes, get better

results and achieve new goals. This quantitative study aimed to better understand the

challenges faced by Senior High School (SHS) Accountancy, Business, and Management

(ABM) students in their journey of learning real life business problems. It utilized a case

study method in which the unit of analysis is the SHS 12 ABM students of Mystical Rose

School Of Caloocan Inc.

According to Leo Carver (2016) “Life is full of challenges. Some people seem to

meet every challenge with confidence, while others struggle to overcome them and

challenges can become problems that can spiral you into despair and frustration.”

Challenges seem hard to you while others breeze right through the same situations.

There’s a reason why you put off a task for weeks that can be done several times a day

by someone else. According to LamHiu-sze (2015) Challenges come in many forms. For

some, the challenge is doing well at school for others it is getting to grips with financial

worries. Students experienced a lot of challenges, to sleep late at night because there

are things needed to be passed,


The ABM strand in its most fundamental sense refers to the accountancy,

business, and management academic programs that concentrate on the foundational

concepts in corporate operations, financial management, business management, as well

as each and every factor that revolves around those central fields. Those students who

plans to take up business courses and accountancy. This track is perfect for those who

are good in organizing and planning and for those who want to start a business.

The main reason for this study is to explore the common academic challenges facing by

ABM students. Finding a way of how can this problem be manage will be a big help for

the students who encountered challenges.


STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The main objective of this study is to determine the challenges encountered by

the Grade 12 ABM students in taking up their chosen strand.

The conducted study focused only on the grade 12 ABM strand at Mystical Rose

School of Caloocan Inc during the academic year 2019-2028 and the researcher

gathered data from 50 of them as respondents of the study.

It specifically, sought answers to the following questions:

1. What are the personal profile of the respondents in terms of


1.1 Age
1.2 Gender
1.3 Time Management
2. What are the struggles encountered by the ABM students in taking up their

strand?

3. Will ABM strand help the student in their future lives in college?

Why or why not?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


This study about the challenges encountered by the grade 12 ABM students in

taking up their chosen strand as beneficial to the following:

Students This study is important because they will know what challenges they may

face in choosing ABM as their strand in senior high school.

Parents This study is important because they will know how to guide their child for

their chosen track.

School This study is important so that they will know the challenges of an ABM

students

SCOPE AND DELIMITATIONS

This study is aimed to identify the challenges encountered by the grade 12 ABM

students in taking up their chosen strand.

The conducted study focused only on the grade 12 ABM strand at Mystical Rose

School of Caloocan Inc. during the academic year 2019-2020 and the researcher

gathered data from 50 of their

DEFINITION OF TERMS
The following words are defined operationally and completely to further

understand the study:

Affecting - Evoking a strong emotional response.

Challenges - A difficult task or problem; something that is hard to do.

Chaotic- Marked by chaos or being in a state of chaos; completely confused or

disordered.

Emotional - Relating to emotions.

Encountered - a usually brief experience with another person.

Entities - A thing with distinct and independent existence.

Enormous - Very large in size, quantity, or extent.

Generating - To produce something or cause something to be produced.

Journey - An act of traveling from one place to another.


Nurturing - The care and attention given to someone or something that is or

developing.

Peer- To look searchingly at something difficult to discern.

Resolutions - The act of finding an answer or solution to a conflict, problem, etc. The

act of resolving something.

Sought – Past and past participle of seek


Stability - The quality or state of something that is not easily changed

Strategy - The skill of making or carrying out plans to achieve a goal.

Stressful - Full of or tending to induce.

Struggles - To try very hard to do, achieve, or deal with something that is difficult.
Tactics- an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific end.

Trends- Hip or popular at a certain point in time.

Youngsters- Child, young person, or young animal or likely to change.

Undesired collaborate - Especially of an act or consequence) not wanted or desired.
