INTRODUCTION:

Marketing is the moving and exciting activity in everybody activities. The sellers,
distributors, advertising agencies, consultants, transporters, financers, store agencies and every
one as a counter are part of the marketing system. Any exchange process be it consumer, goods,
intermediary goods, services of ideas, comes under the preview of marketing. It is very often
regarded that the development of markets and marketing is synonymous with the economic
development of account. Through marketing is an action discipline. In the ever-growing
corporate world, marketing is being regarded as a crucial element for the success of an
Enterprise.

The marketing discipline is undergoing fresh re aparisal in the light of the vast global,
technological, economic and social challenges facing today’s companies and countries. Marketing
at its best is about value creation and raising the world’s living standards. Today’s winning
companies are those who succeed most in satisfying, indeed delighting their target customers.

As quoted by P.P.Drucker “Marketing is so basic that it cannot be considered a separate

function. It is whole business seen from the point of view of its final result, that is, from the
customer’s point of view. Business success is not determined by the producer but by the
customer”.

Philip Kotler has therefore defined marketing as “it is a social and managerial process by
which individuals and groups obtain what they need and want through creating, offering and
exchanging products of values with others”. Many Indian companies espouse a satisfied
customer philosophy and describe marketing as customer-satisfaction engineering. Since the
economy in this country has changed from a primary condition of scarcity to gradual and steady
stage of affluence, largely giving consumers the opportunity to choose among many varied
alternatives, satisfaction has become a major concern of business.
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Customer satisfaction, a business term, is a measure of how products and services supplied by a

company meet or surpass customer expectation. It is seen as a key performance indicator within

business and is part of the four of a Balanced Scorecard.

In a competitive marketplace where businesses compete for customers, customer satisfaction is

seen as a key differentiator and increasingly has become a key element of business strategy.

There is a substantial body of empirical literature that establishes the benefits of customer

satisfaction for firms.

Measuring customer satisfaction

Organizations need to retain existing customers while targeting non-customers;. Measuring

customer satisfaction provides an indication of how successful the organization is at providing

products and/or services to the marketplace.

Customer satisfaction is an abstract concept and the actual manifestation of the state of

satisfaction will vary from person to person and product/service to product/service. The state of

satisfaction depends on a number of both psychological and physical variables which correlate

with satisfaction behaviors such as return and recommend rate. The level of satisfaction can also

vary depending on other factors the customer, such as other products against which the customer

can compare the organization's products.

[3]
Work done by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry (Leonard L) between 1985 and 1988

delivered SERVQUAL which provides the basis for the measurement of customer satisfaction
with a service by using the gap between the customer's expectation of performance and their

perceived experience of performance. This provides the researcher with a satisfaction "gap"

which is semi-quantitative in nature. Cronin and Taylor extended the disconfirmation theory by

combining the "gap" described by Parasuraman, Zeithaml and Berry as two different measures

(perception and expectation) into a single measurement of performance relative to expectation.

The usual measures of customer satisfaction involve a survey [4] with a set of statements using a

Likert Technique or scale. The customer is asked to evaluate each statement in terms of their

perception and expectation of performance of the service being measured.

Methodologies

American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) is a scientific standard of customer satisfaction.

Academic research has shown that the national ACSI score is a strong predictor of Gross

Domestic Product (GDP) growth, and an even stronger predictor of Personal Consumption

Expenditure (PCE) growth. On the microeconomic level, research has shown that ACSI data

predicts stock market performance, both for market indices and for individually traded

companies. Increasing ACSI scores has been shown to predict loyalty, word-of-mouth

recommendations, and purchase behavior. The ACSI measures customer satisfaction annually for

more than 200 companies in 43 industries and 10 economic sectors. In addition to quarterly

reports, the ACSI methodology can be applied to private sector companies and government

agencies in order to improve loyalty and purchase intent. Two companies have been licensed to

apply the methodology of the ACSI for both the private and public sector: CFI Group, Inc.

applies the methodology of the ACSI offline, and Foresee Results applies the ACSI to websites
and other online initiatives. ASCI scores have also been calculated by independent researchers,

for example, for the mobile phones sector[5], higher education[6], and electronic mail.

The Kano model is a theory of product development and customer satisfaction developed in the

1980s by Professor Noriaki Kano that classifies customer preferences into five categories:

Attractive, One-Dimensional, Must-Be, Indifferent, Reverse. The Kano model offers some

insight into the product attributes which are perceived to be important to customers. Kano also

produced a methodology for mapping consumer responses to questionnaires onto his model.

SERVQUAL or RATER is a service-quality framework that has been incorporated into

customer-satisfaction surveys (e.g., the revised Norwegian Customer Satisfaction Barometer[8])

to indicate the gap between customer expectations and experience.

J.D. Power and Associates provides another measure of customer satisfaction, known for its top-

box approach and automotive industry rankings. J.D. Power and Associates' marketing research

consists primarily of consumer surveys and is publicly known for the value of its product awards.

Other research and consulting firms have customer satisfaction solutions as well. These include

A.T. Kearney's Customer Satisfaction Audit process, which incorporates the Stages of

Excellence framework and which helps define a company’s status against eight critically

identified dimensions.

For Business to Business (B2B) surveys there is the InfoQuest box[1]. This has been used

internationally since 1989 on more than 110,000 surveys (Nov '09) with an average response rate

of 72.74%. The box is targeted at "the most important" customers and avoids the need for a

blanket survey.
IMPROVING CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Published standards exist to help organizations develop their current levels of customer

satisfaction. The International Customer Service Institute (TICSI) has released The International

Customer Service Standard (TICSS). TICSS enables organizations to focus their attention on

delivering excellence in the management of customer service, whilst at the same time providing

recognition of success through a 3rd Party registration scheme. TICSS focuses an organization’s

attention on delivering increased customer satisfaction by helping the organization through a

Service Quality Model.

TICSS Service Quality Model uses the 5 P's - Policy, Processes, People, Premises,

Product/Services, as well as performance measurement. The implementation of a customer

service standard should lead to higher levels of customer satisfaction, which in turn influences

customer retention and customer loyalty.

CONSUMER BEHAVIOR

Consumer behavior is the study of when, why, how, where and what people do or do not buy

products. It blends elements from psychology, sociology, social psychology, anthropology and

economics. It attempts to understand the buyer decision making process, both individually and in

groups. It studies characteristics of individual consumers such as demographics and behavioural

variables in an attempt to understand people's wants. It also tries to assess influences on the

consumer from groups such as family, friends, reference groups, and society in general.

Customer behaviour study is based on consumer buying behaviour, with the customer playing

the three distinct roles of user, payer and buyer. Relationship marketing is an influential asset for

customer behaviour analysis as it has a keen interest in the re-discovery of the true meaning of

marketing through the re-affirmation of the importance of the customer or buyer. A greater

importance is also placed on consumer retention, customer relationship management,

personalisation, customisation and one-to-one marketing. Social functions can be categorized

into social choice and welfare functions. Each method for vote counting is assumed as a social

function but if Arrow’s possibility theorem is used for a social function, social welfare function

is achieved. Some specifications of the social functions are decisiveness, neutrality, anonymity,

monotonocity, unanimity, homogeneity and weak and strong Paretooptimality. No social choice

function meets these requirements in an ordinal scale simultaneously. The most important

characteristic of a social function is identification of the interactive effect of alternatives and

creating a logical relation with the ranks. Marketing provides services in order to satisfy

customers. With that in mind, the productive system is considered from its beginning at the

production level, to the end of the cycle, the consumer (Kioumarsi et al., 2009).
Belch and Belch define consumer behavior as 'the process and activities people engage in when

searching for, selecting, purchasing, using, evaluating, and disposing of products and services so

as to satisfy their needs and desires'.

The black box model shows the interaction of stimuli, consumer characteristics, decision process

and consumer responses.[1] It can be distinguished between interpersonal stimuli (between

people) or intrapersonal stimuli (within people).[2] The black box model is related to the black

box theory of behaviorism, where the focus is not set on the processes inside a consumer, but the

relation between the stimuli and the response of the consumer. The marketing stimuli are

planned and processed by the companies, whereas the environmental stimulus are given by social

factors, based on the economical, political and cultural circumstances of a society. The buyers

black box contains the buyer characteristics and the decision process, which determines the

buyers response.

The black box model considers the buyers response as a result of a conscious, rational decision

process, in which it is assumed that the buyer has recognized the problem. However, in reality

many decisions are not made in awareness of a determined problem by the consumer.

Information search

Once the consumer has recognised a problem, they search for information on products and

services that can solve that problem. Belch and Belch (2007) explain that consumers undertake

both an internal (memory) and an external search.

Sources of information include:

 Personal sources

 Commercial sources

 Public sources

 Personal experience
The relevant internal psychological process that is associated with information search is

perception. Perception is defined as 'the process by which an individual receives, selects,

organises, and interprets information to create a meaningful picture of the world'

The selective perception process

Stage Description

- Selective exposure consumers select which promotional messages they will expose

themselves to.

- Selective attention consumers select which promotional messages they will pay attention

to

- Selective comprehension consumer interpret messages in line with their beliefs, attitudes,

motives and experiences

- Selective retention consumers remember messages that are more meaningful or important

to them

The implications of this process help develop an effective promotional strategy, and select which

sources of information are more effective for the brand.

INFORMATION EVALUATION

At this time the consumer compares the brands and products that are in their evoked set. How

can the marketing organization increase the likelihood that their brand is part of the consumer's

evoked (consideration) set? Consumers evaluate alternatives in terms of the functional and

psychological benefits that they offer. The marketing organization needs to understand what
benefits consumers are seeking and therefore which attributes are most important in terms of

making a decision.

Purchase decision

Once the alternatives have been evaluated, the consumer is ready to make a purchase decision.

Sometimes purchase intention does not result in an actual purchase. The marketing organization

must facilitate the consumer to act on their purchase intention. The provision of credit or

payment terms may encourage purchase, or a sales promotion such as the opportunity to receive

a premium or enter a competition may provide an incentive to buy now. The relevant internal

psychological process that is associated with purchase decision is integration.

Postpurchase evaluation
The EKB model was further developed by Rice (1993) which suggested there should be a
feedback loop, Foxall (2005) further suggests the importance of the post purchase evaluation and
that the post purchase evaluation is key due to its influences on future purchase patterns
COMPANY PROFILE

Why waste time, money and energy driving in traffic? Share. Save. Smile!
Quick Ride offers you the most technologically advanced platform to find real-time options for
ridesharing, carpooling, bike sharing and taxi sharing. Traditional carpooling has its limitations –
where participants are constrained by fixed times of travel (onward and return), fixed start and
end points, and fixed set of people to pool with. These constraints are unrealistic for the modern
day working professional.

Quick Ride introduces dynamic ride sharing – where you can see available options, browse
profiles and route details, initiate connections, and get confirmation as soon as the other party
responds – all of it in real-time. The app even has an option to chat with potential ride-partners
through the app. Quick Ride even allows you to opt for bike sharing, or taxi sharing through the
app, seamlessly!
Here are the key features that put Quick Ride in a league of its own – and a few generations
ahead of any other ride sharing app:

Security: 4 layered security framework

- phone number is instantly confirmed,
- company where user is working gets verified,
- ability to restrict sharing and visibility to only within the user’s company colleagues, or with
same gender
-aggregated rating from previous ride partners is available (based on completed rides), and
- social media profiles (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter) can be linked – for added information
about users’ credentials.

Flexibility of timings: Quick Ride helps to connect with ride matches instantly and completes the
transaction at each ride. It is possible to share ride with one user in the morning onward journey
and with another user during the return journey in the evening. There are no obligations to start
and leave at the same time.

Coordination challenges: Features like live ride view on map, and in-app (group) chat makes ride
coordination
seamless on Quick Ride.

Rewards and incentives: The payments are cashless and completely automated. Ride partners can
share costs seamlessly, without even discussing about payments. The rider will be incentivised
for rides shared as per his/her choice of fare. Rider can encash accumulated points in the app,
and use it to pay for fuel directly at petrol pumps.

Partial route matches: Intelligent route matching algorithm supports partial route matching.

Customizable routes and pick-up/drop-off points: Default route and matching pickup or drop
points can be customized as per user choice.

Regular rides: For daily commute, user can create regular ride once and Quick Ride
automatically create ride daily. Varied timings on different days are allowed. For a particular
week day, you have the option to choose a different time or to exclude that day. The rides are
created in advance and notified to the user with options of ‘Reschedule’ or ‘Cancel’.
SOS feature: is incorporated within the app. On emergency confirmation, SOS notification with
last known location and other details are sent immediately to selected contacts.
Ride details sharing with preferred contact(s): is possible for all rides. The ride can be tracked by
selected contacts with whom the user chooses to share details of a particular ride.
Route Groups: can be formed and used to communicate for people travelling between same
locations. Invitations can be sent to contacts in a user’s contact list.

There are a host of other advanced features, details of which would be available through our
website at quickride. in If there is any ongoing live ride, it uses GPS in the background and can

Shared Workspaces Need Shared Employee Transport

Most new-age companies today hold offices in business or tech-parks. They have played a
pivotal role in making India a global powerhouse. As per a recent estimate, more than 10 million
people have their workplace in tech-parks. These have redefined the meaning of ‘office’. They
offer the best amenities for work and recreation, parking and security – thus enhancing the
overall employee experience.

While they excel in infrastructure, they fare poorly on connectivity. They’re mostly situated
outside the city to optimize on cost and availability of real estate. For companies running office
within their premises, providing employee transportation becomes imperative to connect them to
these far-off locations.

Though a company may save by moving to outskirt locations, the benefits are considerably
countered by the expenses dedicated to employee transportation.

This makes the tech-park less attractive and increases the probability of
employee attrition.

Another problem in this scenario is that of parking which dedicated buses & cabs create within
and around the tech-park. This causes congestion and makes commute a hassle for those coming
to work there.

The issue persists even for Tech-parks located within the city. Though they are well connected,
they cause a massive overload on public infrastructure,
particularly roads.

The high volume of vehicles moving in and out of these parks leads to congestion around their
premises, making commute an everyday struggle for the employees.

With these two major issues, maintaining and improving their asset value becomes a challenge
for a tech-park. They need to enable an ecosystem of shared public transport for the employees
of their tenant companies in order to provide proper connectivity and decongest the roads
surrounding them.
Another segment which faces similar challenges is co-working spaces where employees from
different companies aggregate. Herein, respective companies cannot provide dedicated transport
due to lack of sufficient employee strength. Thus they prefer co-working spaces which provide
good options for their employees’ daily commute.

These challenges can be overcome by introducing Shared Transport System which can be used
by employees of the various tenant companies without each company needing to provide
dedicated transport. The companies can pre-reserve a certain number of seats in these vehicles
(buses) as per their employee strength and/or organisational policy.

This model will not only lead to huge cost savings for the companies who were earlier providing
dedicated employee transport but will also allow high convenience to the employees – they
would no longer be bound by specific bus timing and will have flexible time slots at their
disposal.

Technology adds another level of comfort and convenience for these employees.

These services connect employees directly from home to office and hence eliminate the hassle of
changing modes of transport to reach their workplace. Quality AC coaches, assured seat for
everyone and optional services like food and beverages on board enhance their comfort and
commute experience.
Shared Transport System is a new but a necessary solution for Tech-parks and companies alike.
However, not all conventional employee transportation companies can enable this. This model
requires high expertise in managing the scale of operations ensuring that the services are reliable,
efficient and safe.

Thankfully, with companies like Shuttl, this is not only possible but is also running successfully
in various cities across the country.

" There has been a lot of positive impact after Shuttl has come in the transport business. Earlier,
we had to wait a lot for the existing bus system or rely on other means, both of which were very
unreliable. Shuttl is much more convenient and better as there are limited number of stops. It
helps me save a lot of time every day."
"My Shuttl experience so far has been great. I travel every day, week after week and the vehicles
have always been on time. It (Shuttl) acts as a weather shield because I am no longer exposed to
the cold, heat or dust I used to face in autos. The timings are pretty convenient so I can take a
