I. Course Information
HS Course Name: Business Information Management 1
HS Grade Level: 9-12
Recommended Prerequisite: Touch Systems Data Entry

Course Description: Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to strengthen individual performance in
the workplace and in society and make a successful transition to the workforce and
postsecondary education. Students apply technical skills to address business applications of
emerging technologies, create word processing documents, develop a spreadsheet, formulate a
database, and make an electronic presentation using appropriate software.

III. Grading Policy


Six-Week Grade

VI. Classroom Rules


A. No Food or drinks
B. Put away all electronic devices in your backpack or bag. (There will be times when we have
technology time and you will be able to use your device.)
C. Arrive on time
D. No Internet use unless instructed to do so
E. Come prepared to work and learn everyday
F. Sit at assigned seat and take proper care of equipment and property
G. Follow instructions the first time given and do your own work
H. Complete work on time
I. Respect others and their belongings
J. When the teacher is talking up front or if you are taking notes while the teacher is presenting. Please do
not touch the computers.
VII. Lab Hours
A. Monday – Thursday 3:45 PM – 4:15 PM except on the last three days of each six-week period and
when I am on duty.
B. Lab use is for completing class assignments, reteach, retest, or working on other school assignments.
C.No Internet use unless it is for school work.
D.Only students in my classes are allowed; do not bring friends.
B. Late Work Policy
A. Student is responsible for turning in an assignment by the due date in order to receive full credit! If
student does not have an excuse (absence slip) it is still your responsibility to get the assignment turned in
by the due date! Anything after the due date will have points deducted.
B. Assignments will not be accepted after graded assignments have been returned to students or after one
week from the due date.
C. If the student has a valid excuse or is absent due to an extracurricular activity (Sports, UIL, Clubs, etc)
then the student will get an extension from the due date depending on how long the student was out

C. Absence Policy
A. Obtain an official Admission Blank (absence slip) from the office prior to entering class.
B. Students’ parents will be contacted if the student is excessively absent!
C. Student is responsible for making up missed assignments.
D. Tardy Policy
A. If the student is not in his/her seat when the tardy bell rings, he/she is marked tardy.
B. After third tardy student's parents will be contacted and student will receive an unexcused absence.
C. School TARDY POLICY will be enforced for more than three tardies.
D. Tardy pass must be picked up from the front office if you’re tardy
E. 3 UNEXCUSED Tardies in a single week will result in Pushups in front of the class 

E. Restroom/Hall Passes
A. Students are allowed three (3) passes every six-week period.
B. Hall passes should not be used during the first 20 minutes of class and during the last 20 minutes of
class.
C. Student must correctly fill out hall pass log before leaving classroom.
D. Unused passes may be used as points on semester exam (2 pts. per pass).
E. First semester passes cannot be used second semester.
F. Rewards
A reward system will be in place. The student with the highest average and NO MORE than one (1) absence,
per six weeks; will receive the following reward.
-A daily assignment pass/Free time pass (to be used on one assignment at any time, *Not including projects,
quizzes, or tests.)
Also, if the student has caught up on all of his/her assignments for the week and is done with work for the
week, then the student is allowed free time whenever the teacher see’s fit.

G. Consequences

Failure to comply with any of the rules or procedures listed above will result in disciplinary action at the
teacher’s discretion depending on the offense/s. Disciplinary action could range from (a full day of book
work, Student conference, parent phone call, lunch detention, Referral to the office, ISS, or SUSPENSION!)
