Environmental Control House

Space required for layer=1 sq. Feet

Space required for broiler=0.65 to 0.75 sq. feet

Dimension for house

Length=400ft

Width=45ft

Height=9ft

400*45*9=162000 cubic feet

Fan Calculation for House

1.on the basis of area covered

Length*width*height/CFM of fan=162000/20000 =8.1

2.On the basis of cross section area

Cross section=Width *Height

Required Air Velocity=100CFM(1st week), 200CFM(snd week) so on upto 5 weeks for broiler

Cross section*Air velocity/CFM of fan=405*100/20000 =2.02 fans for 1st week

=405*500/20000 =10.12 fans for 5th week

3.On the basis of Body Weight

Winter Required CFM during 1st and 2nd week= 0.5 3rd week and so on=1

Maximum limit is 2CFM/kg

Summer Required CFM during 1st week=0.5 2nd week=1 3rd week and so on=5

Average body weight*total birds*5/CFM of one fan=2*30000*5/20000 =15fans

Best method is to take average of the 3 methods= 8+10+15/3 =11 fans

Feed Calculation
Total no. of birds*age*standard/1000=30000*10*4.5/1000 =1350

1 bag of feed contains 50 kg feed so

1350/50 =27

Hence, 27 bags are needed for 30000 birds of 10 days

For Broiler

Age Total Feed Average Body Weight

1st week 25bad/day 170-200g
2nd week 50 bag/day 375-450g
3rd week 75 bag/day 750-850g
4th week 100 bag/day 1200-1450g
5th week 150 bag/day 1900-2000g

Water Lines

Left 10 feet space on both sides of shed

1length of water lines is of 10feet containing 15 nipples

After Deducting space on both sides length remains 380 feet

No. of length in one line =380/10 =38

For 4 lines No. of lengths=38*4 =152 Total nipples=152*15=2280

No.of birds per Nipple=30000/2280 =13

For 5 lines No. of lengths =38*5=190 Total nipples=190*15=2850

No.of birds per Nipple=30000/2850 =10.5

Feeders

Left 10 feet space on both sides of shed

1length of water lines is of 10feet containing 4 feeders

After Deducting space on both sides length remains 380 feet

No. of length in one line =380/10 =38

For 3 lines No. of lengths =38*3=114 Total feeders=114*4=456feeders

No. of birds per feeder=30000/456=65.7

For 4 lines No. of lengths =38*4=152 Total feeders=152*4=608feeders

No. of birds per feeder=30000/608=49.34

Pads Calculation

There is a thumb rule; For 1 cone fan 6 cooling pads are required

For 10 fans 60 pads are required

Dimensions of 1 pad

Length=2feet

Width=0.5feet

Height=6.5feet

Area required for pads=60*2=120feet

Width of the farm is 45 feet; so 120-45=75 (38 feet on each side)

Water Calculation for Cooling Pads

=0.018*Temperature difference*Total CFM of running fans/8747

Temperature Difference=External temperature in farenhite – Required temperature

8747=BTU(energy required to convert 1 US gallon of water into vapours

=0.018*20*200000/8747

=8.23 US gallons

1 gallon contain 3.81 liters of water

8.23*3.81 =31.35liter water /minute

Pipe with 1.5 inch lumen throws 100 liter of water/minute.We required 31.35 liters/minute

100/31.35 =3.18

So cooling pads will be off for 3.18 minute after on for 1 minute

Calculation of Ventilators

4CFM requires 1 square inch area to pass

TOTAL BIRDS=30000

TOTAL WIEGHT=60000

During minimum ventilation

CFM required/kg=0.9

So; 60000*0.9 =54000 Area required for vents=54000/4 =13500 sq.feet

DIMENSIONS OF Vent=22*11=242sq.inch

Total Required=13500/242 =56 vents are required

Calculation Of Air Velocity

Air Velocity=CFM of fan/Cross section area

Cross section area for front fans=width*hieght=45*9=405

AV=20000/405=49.38FPM

Total length=400 feet

So Air exchange time=Total Length/Air Velocity=400/49.38 =8.1 minutes

Cross section area for Side fans=Length*Height=400*9=3600

Air velocity=20000/3600=5.55FPM

Air Exchange Time=45/5.55=8.18minutes
