I AM FASHIONABLY ONLINE!

Social Media and Fashion have grown to be one of the best collaborations to exist
today. The rise of social media has diversified the power of fashion in many ways.
The fashion industry is no longer as exclusive as it was before. The magazine
editors and designers still hold some influence, but now it has expanded to include
the voice of the average consumer. Consumers are far more smarter since there are
a varitey of products to choose from all thanks to the evolution of technology and
social media platforms. It made possible for us to become more style-savvy &
enable us to express freely. It also helps us to identify our own personal style and
create an exciting wardrobe.

The variety of social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pin-
terest, YouTube and Snapchat has allowed fashion guide to be at the fingertips of
many people who seek daily inspiration. Blogging and vlogging is in trends.
To get a better understanding of this topic, we interviewed some people of NIFT
Patna, they were quoted saying that they usually get their beauty ideas and lifestyle
hacks from YouTube tutorials, where Fashion Bloggers and internet celebrities share
their fashion ideas and style tips. Priyanshi, a student of fashion communication
recommends reading reviews for buying decisions. Whereas, Nayanika’s views, a
student from textile department were personal, she said “I run a fashion house,
‘Paradize’ and I would like to appreciate as they provide platforms for promotion and
client global connection”.
Zeba and Riya, fashion design students said social media help them to collaborate
their ideas with the upcoming trends. But for a design student Urvashi, social media
has made her college life fun and easy. She said “I spent an average of 6 to 10 hours
a day on social media and there always something new to learn”.

In this super fast society, social media has given opportunity for getting name,
fame, being a source to spread love and affection in the society. Fashion designers
and major retailers have adapted to the ever changing ways of emerging social
media by creating a stronger presences on platforms where consumers can be
more interactive. A good example of an interactive post is a shoppable social media
posts. Interactice social media posts, the raise of influencers, and having an array
of shopping options at our disposal would not be possible without the help of social
media. It definately has connected us to the fashion industry more than ever.
