Smart Girl Program Train the Trainers workshop

A Report

The workshop on Smart Girl Programme Train the trainers was organized on 26 th and 27th July,
2019 at Atmiya University in Association with Bharathiya Jain Sangathana, (BJS), Pune. This
workshop was coordinated by Smt. Darshana Kothari, State Head, Smart Girl Mission for Gujarat
along with Shri Ketan Mehta, State President Gujarat and Shri Suresh Kothari, National Vice
President of BJS. The Resource person of teh workshop was Shri Rajendra Lunker, National
President BJA & Master Trainer of Smart Girl Program of BJS. At Atmiya University it was
coordinated by Dr. Sheetal Tank, Trainer of Smart Girl Programme and Librarian of Atmiya
University.

The inaugural program was held with the presence of Dr. Anuja Anurag Gupta, Wife of Dr. Aurag
Gupta, Collector Rajkot and professor of Economics at Marwadi University, as Chief Guest; Shri
Rajendra Lunker, Shri Suresh Kothari, Dr. Santhanakrishnan, Provost, Atmiya University, Dr. M.P.
Singh, Resgitrar, Atmiya University, Dr. Sonal Shah, I/c Principal Shree M & N Virani Science
College, Shri Ketan Mehta and other Members of Jain Samaj. Smt. Darshana Kothari, Welcomes
the guests and set the stage for the Workshop; Shri Suresh Kothari, gave a brief about BJS and its
Social works and a brief about Smart Girl Programme. Shri Rajendra Lunker shared the objective of
the Smart Girl Program and how it has impacted the life of Girls all over the Nation. Dr. Anuja
Gupta in her inspiring speech shared her own experience of being the outcome of one such
programme of Empowerment that she attended in her school days conducted by BJS and its impact
on her aspirations and taking up her career, marriage and to being a mother. The Participants were
motivated by her humble speech and experience and this added authenticity to the program too.
Provost sir in his speech elaborated on the importance of Woman empowerment and also its
essentiality in todays era. The Vote of thanks was given by Shri Ketan Mehta.

The two day training program was conducted by Shri Rajendra Lunker as a Master Trainer. The
modules of the Program are as follows:
Smart Girl Workshop Framework
No. Modules Module Objectives

1. Self -Awareness • To create realization that each one of us lack self-awareness


• To generate awareness about the importance of knowing one
self
• To learn technique of questioning oneself for increasing self-
awareness

2. Communication • To introduce basics of essential aspects of communications


and Relationship • To develop sense of family bonding in spite of situational
differences or gaps in family
• To develop acceptance for differences of opinion and to create
sense of understanding

3. Menstruation & • To give Information about hygience to be maintained during


Hygiene mensturation
• To give information about physical and psycho-social issues
related to mensturation
• To understand things to do and to avoid during mensturation
4. Self Esteem and • To know that everyone has some or the other strength
Self Defense • To create self-respect through identification of strength
• To know that the self-esteem matters and it can be protected
• To convey the need to manage fear and / or anger
• To create realization that goal of self-defence is survival not
winning
• To instil confidence to face adversities and know the practical
tips for self defence

5. Choices and • To create sense of responsibility required to exercise choices


Decisions and to take decisions
• To generate understanding of correlation between freedom and
responsibility
• To discuss important life choices and decisions where one
needs to be careful

6. Friendship and • To understand the importance of friendship in one’s life


Temptation • To create awareness about importance of selecting right
friends
• To create awareness about the need to weigh pleasure versus
consequences

7. Dialogue with • To sensitize parents about the needs of young children


Parents • To facilitate healthy communication between parents and
children

Each of these modules were thouroughly explained along with their objectives.

On the second day Smt. Anjali Rupani, Wife of Chief Minister Gujarat had also been present for a
few minutes on knowing that even the Rajkot Municipal Corporation Teachers were also
participating for the said training. 3 participants gave their feedback and experience of the
workshop so far and based on that Mrs. Anjali Rupani gave her best wishes and requested the
participants to support in a big way through these type of programmes for making teh woman self
confident to live their life happily and successfully.

At the end of the workshop there was a mock round as a scrutinity test for participants who wanted
to become trainers of Smart Girl Program. About 80 participants gave the mock round and about 60
qualified as trainers.

Participants:
There were 125 Participants – about 25 teachers of RMC Schools, about 60 members form Jain
Samaj, about 25 teachers of other schools and colleges and about 20 faculty members from
Atmiya campus were present at the workshop.

The results of the mock of our Atmiya members is enclosed herewith.
