Professional Experience
Senior Project Manager, NRECA/CRN contractor
Self-Employed Independent Consultant
(October 2009 – Present)
Promoted to be the project manager for the National Rural Electric Cooperative
Association’s (NRECA’S) DOE grant-funded SUNDA project, a four-plus (4+) year
renewable energy project to help reduce the barriers to entry and soft-costs for co-
op utilities interested in pursuing utility-scale, utility-owned, PV solar energy
systems. I provided leadership to this $125M project that enabled utilities to
evaluate solar from both a technical and business perspective, and successfully plan
their approach to deploy more than 60MW of PV generation at 17 co-ops in 14
states. Completed on-schedule and under-budget, it is in the top 5% of all projects
by DOE’s value/performance metrics.
Wrote a winning $68M grant proposal for NRECA under DOE’s Smart Grid
Demonstration Grant funding opportunity. I served as project manager on this effort
in the rural utility energy sector to define, select and deploy more than 250,000
smart grid components at 23 co-op electric utilities across the Nation. With my
leadership, the project met every budgetary and performance deadline and has
been touted as one of the most successful DOE grant projects.
Organized and hosted business growth workshops for small technology companies
providing access to world-class Board of Directors for a day.
Provided growth-oriented consulting services to dozens of small and start-up high
technology businesses, bridging the gap between pure technology research and real-
world business.
Developed detailed system requirements, rollout plans, business rules and standard
operating procedures to ensure smooth deployment in the DHS multi-agency legacy
environment.
Performed in-depth COTS applications market analysis to determine best-of-breed
collaborative business applications consistent with the budget, security needs and
system limitations of the client.

Module to completion 57% ahead of schedule and 60% faster than comparable
