THE ASSESSMENT:
Formative: Activities that are marked for completion to give you an opportunity to practice and
receive constructive feedback (homework, class participation, etc.)
Summative: Assignments that are given a grade according to your ability to meet the specified
criteria (questions, discussions paragraphs, projects, tests, etc.)
FINAL MARK = 20% - Formative
80% - Summative & Final Project

GENERAL CLASSROOM BEHAVIOUR:


1. Respect everyone in the room at all times by being an active participant, attentive
listener (not talking while others are talking) and cooperative partner. Respect others
ideas by keeping an open mind.
2. Take responsibility for your actions and ownership over your learning by arriving
promptly to class ready to learn and with the necessary materials.
3. Insure your own and other’s safety at all times by keeping walkways clear of tripping
hazards and the classroom free of any other harmful materials or behaviours.

ATTENDANCE:
1. Absences: Parent/ guardian is expected to notify the school of all absences.
a. Please see me and/or visit the website before the class following your absence in
order to find out what you missed.
2. Lates: In the event of a late arrival, please wait silently outside the door. If you disrupt
the class you will be asked to complete a mystery task…
3. Missed Work: In the event of an excused absence, you will be permitted to complete
missed work. If the absence is unexcused, permission will be granted at my discretion 

ASSIGNMENTS:
1. SUBMISSIONS: All assignments must have your NAME/DATE/PERIOD displayed at the
top right of the page and be typed or written in blue or black ink.
2. LATE ASSIGNMENTS: Please avoid penalty by turning assignments in on time or
requesting an extension well in advance of the due date.

PLAGIARISM: “The act of claiming another person’s or source’s work and/or ideas as one’s
own” (this includes allowing someone to copy your work!)
***Plagiarized work will result in an automatic mark of ZERO

PROCEDURE FOR LEAVING THE CLASS:


1. Request permission before leaving and an appropriate break in instruction!
a. Only one student may leave the classroom at a time so be quick

USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES:


1. Use of electronic devices is not permitted at any time during class unless explicitly
stated otherwise.
a. Some common exceptions may include the following: phone use during
designated research periods, scheduling homework and individual music
listening during quiet work periods.
i. At no time should electronic devices cause distraction. If used
inappropriately, your phone will serve a sentence in phone prison…

FOOD & DRINKS:


1. No food permitted in the classroom. Drinks in sealable containers are permitted.
