What is freedom?
Freedom differs from culture to culture. How you define freedom in Saudi
Arabia differs from how you define freedom in the USA. The Laws of Saudi
Arabia makes it hard for their citizens to enjoy their basic human rights. This is
because Saudi Arabia does not believe in freedom but appeals to tradition. But in
the USA, they have laws that do not allow the violation of the basic human rights.
“Freedom is the right to do what one wants, live where he wants, eat what he
wants, learns what he wants, and chooses the religion in which he believes, without
ignoring or harming other rights”.
Freedom guarantees the expression of one’s opinion without backlash or
legislation from both the society and the government. When the freedom of
opinion is abolished, society faces a creative and literary downfall. Someone once
said: “Freedom of opinion will never result in animosity among people if they
respect each other”. But the idea of freedom raises another conundrum. It is that
freedom must be limited, to protect the human right of every citizen. For example,
people are not free to smuggle drugs, murder, or be deviant.
In conclusion, the right of freedom must never harm any other human being,
directly or indirectly.
