INTRODUCTION
A. RESEARCH BACKGROUND
Language is the most important thing in communicating especially
with people from various nations throughout the world. As an international
language, English is very important and has many links to various aspects
of life that humans have. In Indonesia, English is considered to be the
main foreign language and is formally taught from elementary school and
even at the University. In English, there are 4 skills and writing is one of
them, in writing students must know about grammar, vocabulary, sentence
structure, sentence sequence, and sentence connection. Sometimes there
are students who are proficient in speaking English but do not understand
how to write it properly. In fact, most students in Indonesia do not learn
English well, especially in writing.
Not all students have the ability to express their inspiration into
written form due to a lack of interest in learning writing skills. This also
happened at SMAN 1 Simpang Raya, when they were asked to do writing,
but many students found various obstacles. Just say "They have a lot of
memorization of vocabulary but can't put it in written text". The students
who only knew a little vocabulary also could not write, they did not master
grammar, and many students were not interested in writing. Because
writing activities tend to be boring and they close themselves in learning
writing in English.
The researcher observed at SMAN 1 Simpang Raya and found
several problems related to learning English itself, where the problem was:
The students were low in writing, The students were low motivated in
learning English, the teacher used a monotonous and inappropriate
teaching technique . So that is the reason why students are not interested in
learning. One way to improve students' writing skills is that students must
be more active than teachers by guiding them using quick writing methods
in order to hone their writing skills.
Based on these explanations, researchers are interested in
conducting research entitled "Improving Student's Ability in Writing
Paragraphs Through Quick Writing Method To Eleventh Grade SMAN 1
Simpang Raya".
C. HYPOTHESIS
Hypotheses are guiding ideas, possible statements, and search for
relevant data and other considerations and predict specific outcomes. In
each study certain hypotheses need to be formulated, because according to
Helt and Good (1952: 73) the formulation of hypotheses is a central step in
good research and it is important to give a lot of thought. The research
hypothesis can be formulated where students are taught how to improve
their writing skills based on fast English writing skills.
(2) Vocabulary
Vocabulary is the total number of words that make up a language and a list
or set of words arranged in alphabetical order and explained; dictionaries
or lexicons, both from all languages, single works or authors, branches of
science, or the like; a word book. Vocabulary is defined as all words that
are known and used by certain people. However, words that are known
and used by certain people are not all words revealed by someone.
