Acknowledgement
I would like to express my special thank of gratitude to the
Uttrakhand Tech. University for providing us an opportunity
through the medium of Live Project of 20 hours to work in
any organisation and gain some practical managerial
knowledge.
As well regards to our faculty who guided and supported
us to complete our Live project successfully.
This project helped me to gain many new things and gives me
the practical knowledge of management process which we
studies in our curriculum.
I have completed my live project in a retail store which is
Deepak General Store and Restaurant , Haldwani. Their was
a good experience working here and while working in a retail
store I get to know that most of our theoretical principles are
applied here.
It was a good experience working here.
Business Summary
DGS is a retail store as well as a restro which
is running since 2009 in a small town which is
Gair Vaishali, Bithoria No1 ,Haldwani.
In 2018 it comes under municipal area and the
record tells that this area is with 2k population
.
As a retail store in a village means that we
were having a limited no of population who
will be our customers as in every village their
are n no of retail shops and specially in case of
village their are not very random customers
for retailers. Repeated customers are their.
It the same village (gair vaishali) their are 25-
30 retail shops are running.
So with this small no of customers , running a
retail shop becomes tough , but with a positive
mindset and good strategy DGS is
successfully running since 10 years, and so on.
Management
Summary
In the store the job assign to me is to
1.Handle the customers.
2.Identify their purchasing mindset.
3.Satisfying their needs.
4.Handling the various salespersons,
5.And allocating the financial resource at
right place at right time.
Organisation Profile
• DGS was started in 2009 by its prop. Mr
Vipin chandra Kandpal with a capital of
4.5 lakh.
• Currently its turnover is thrice the capital
invested in starting of business.
• It is a family business.
• No outside human resource are employed
in it.
• Members of family involves in the
business activities.
• Currently DGS is dealing in various
departments which is grocery items,
vegetables as well restro.
• Future aim of DGS is to grow and

diversify itself more that it should be


serving the customers with the every daily
needs items which they requires under one
roof.
Firm structure
1.DGS is working with 2 shops which is self
owned.
2.Targeted customers are limited up to the
town.
3.In order to serve customers DGS is
working in varieties of products.
4. Currently it is being run by the proprietor

itself and family members are also involve


in the same without any other employs.
Organisation strategy
Organisation very well knows in order to
survive in this competitive environment it
must dynamic and diversified. For attractive
more customers DGS is working in various
products. And in a small town customer
retaining is very must so it focuses on the
behavioural aspect of customers and tries to
make a good relation with customers.
Secondly with the limited source of income
due to limited work hiring additional
employee is overburdened , as for handling
such a diversified work employee are required
but by seeing the circumstances and the slow
work organisation applies cost cutting method
and for presently working without outsider
employee.
Strength of firm
• Diversified work.
• Owned infrastructure.
• Healthy relationship with localities.
• Less additional costs.
Weakness of firm
• Limited no of customers
• Less resources
• Working staff
Opportunity
• Due to geographic changes
population/consumers are likely to
increase.
• Increasing interest of customer over
purchasing over online portal can
gives us opportunity to diversify our
self at that platform too.
Threats
• Opening of big marts like big bazaars
,etc
• Local competition .
• Price war.
Research
While working in the organisation I have
interacted with the customers and tries to find
out their problems , some of them are
• Unavailability of branded companies
products.
• Limited variety
• Less use of digital payments
• No offers over regular buying.
• Fresh stock of products are unavailable.
Rather then this a survey of DGS is done by
me with gives us an idea what changes need to
do in or to satisfy its customers.

Project objective
I have started the project keeping several
objective
• To gain managerial skills.
• To do practical implementation of my
studies.
• Learn to read a customers mind.
• And to know the business more deeply and
find new ways to make growth

These were the objectives of my project and I
have gone through all of these things and
identifies many new things about business
which will be going to help the organisation in
future.
Account of problems
• Customers are basically housewives and
gives less importance tow surveys.
• Limited no of well qualified customers.
• Lack of awareness in people.
• Lack of time in project.
Limitation of project
• Shorter time period.
• Lack of positive response from targeted
customers.
Conclusion
This project was very interesting and brain
storming one which gives us an valuable
learning over the market situations and helps us
how to deal with various practical problems.
Rather then personal benefit it also gives DGS
various ideas so how it can grow much more in
the coming future.
