PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Field Implementation of iTechene’s LoRa
Mesh Network for AMI/AMR

iTechene Technologies Group

Two sites were chosen:
 In remote rural areas
 Scattered houses
 Complex circuits
 With Trees and Hills

iTechene Technologies Group

First site:
• 85 meters are located on both sides of the road
• DCU is installed in the west of the village
• About 1km away from the furthest house

iTechene Technologies Group

Results:
The daily Billing Reset data is read back and one-month of data was
collected. Success rate for meter is 100% and stable.

Real-time communication:
Real-time communication test was conducted: 892 tests were
conducted to read all 85 electric meters concurrently. 890 tests were
successful. The success rate is 99.78%.

iTechene Technologies Group 26

Second site:
• 145 meters are scattered within the mountainous area
• DCU is located near the center of the site
• DCU is about 2kms away from the furthest house, where hills between
them

iTechene Technologies Group 27

Results:
For the second site. The daily billing reset data of 142 meters
were read back for one-month. Three meters were not able to
communicate and the success rate was 97.93% and stable.

The reasons of Three failures meter-reading:

1. Meter ID 040300350212025 was changed on Dec.12th,
2016, but was not updated in the AMI/AMR station;
2. Meter ID 0403010004372992 was not connected to the
grid;
3. Meter ID 040300350923233 was out of service.
