Guidelines

Please pay close attention to the following instructions in order to complete the necessary
application process for your new lease.

1. Applicants are required to write their name as it appears on their Trinidad and Tobago national
identification card. Variations must be accompanied by an affidavit.
2. Applicants to state their gender – Male/Female, or if the application is for a Business\Company
with a state registered name.
3. Applicants’ contact information – state mailing address, Email address telephone contact;
Home, Mobile and/or Business phone numbers in the spaces provided.
4. Date of birth as it appears on your birth certificate.
5. Applicants are required to state the numbers of at least two valid forms of identification, as well
as their birth certificate pin number.
6. Applicants must state if they are a Citizen and/or a resident of Trinidad and Tobago.
7. Applicants must state their present Occupation. For a Company, state its business venture and
valid BIR number where applicable.
8. Applicants must state whether they are Married / Single or Otherwise.
9. In case the applicant cannot be reached by the information provided in question (3) an
alternative contact person is required.

N/B. In instances where the applicant wishes to have multiple names on the lease (Joint Tenancy)
the other interested persons (Co-applicant) information will also be required. This information must
be entered into questions 10-18 and 19-27 respectively. In the case where there are more than two
co-applicants, another form is required.

28. Applicants are required to indicate if they have previously applied for state land. If yes the year
and parcel address of said application is required.

29. Applicants are required to indicate if they have previously been officially offered state land. If
yes the parcel address is required.

30. Applicants are required to indicate if they presently own private lands. If yes they are required to
give the parcel size, address and the purpose for which the land is being used; Commercial,
Residential or Agriculture.

31. Applicants are required to indicate if they presently tenant private or state lands. If yes they are
required to give the parcel size, address and the purpose for which the land is being used;
Commercial, Residential or Agriculture.

32. Applicants are required to state the correct address for the parcel of land being applied for.

33. If the applicant has not identified a specific parcel of land, the applicant must give a desired
location.

34. Applicants must state whether or not they are the occupant of the parcel being applied for.

35. Applicants must indicate if the land is currently occupied by themselves or others. If yes, the
year of first occupation must be stated.

36. Applicants must state whether or not they intend to reside on the parcel being applied for.

Important Documents
Note the following documents must be attached to your State Land Application Form (Where
applicable).

1) Birth Certificate (individuals)


2) Deed of Lease/Assignment/Mortgage/Gift
3) At least 2 forms of identification – National ID, Passport, Driver’s Permit, Farmer’s ID
4) Land & Building Tax receipt
5) Lease/ Land Rent Receipt (Most Current)
6) Letters of Administration/ Probated Will
7) T&TEC Bill (Recent)
8) WASA Bill(Recent)
9) Detailed sketch/layout of the said parcel of land

 ALL DOCUMENTS ATTACHED MUST BE COPIES OF ORIGINALS AND MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE
ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS FOR VERIFICATION.

 PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR EACH CO-APPLICANT ON THE STATE LAND APPLICATION FORM, COPIES OF TWO
FORMS OF ID AND THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE ARE REQUIRED TO BE ATTACHED TO THE APPLICATION
ALONG WITH THE MAIN APPLICANT’S.

 AN APPLICATION WOULD BE CONSIDERED INCOMPLETE IF ALL APPLICABLE FIELDS ON APPLICATION IS


NOT FILLED, ALSO IF APPLICATION IS NOT ACCOMPANIED BY THE ABOVE 9 DOCUMENTS.

 THE LAND MANAGEMENT DIVISION IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DISPUTE/S AMONG FAMILY MEMBERS
AND OR NEIGHBOURS. WE ENCOURAGE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY TO COME TO A MUTUAL AGREEMENT
ON HOW AND WHO WOULD BE APPLYING FOR THE LAND.

 WITH REGARDS TO MORE THAN ONE HOUSE/BUILDING ON THE SAME PARCEL, IF THERE IS MORE THAN
ONE OWNER/ OCCUPIER, A SEPARATE APPLICATION MUST BE SENT IN. ALSO ALL APPLICATIONS FOR THE
PARCEL HAS TO BE SUBMITTED TOGETHER.

 IF EXISTING TENANT IS DECEASED PLEASE PROVIDE LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION / PROBATED WILL OR


REGISTERED DEADTH CERTIFICATE OF LESSEE.
