1. Brief description of your role and responsibilities.

My name is Kamil Saeed and I am working in the capacity of ‘Senior Business Controller’ in
Telenor Group. I have almost 19 years of versatile experience in the finance and accounting
field, worked and performed in different multinational sectors like Hotel industry, Oil & Gas
Sector, Telecom industry, and Telenor Group.

Working as a ‘Senior Business Controller’ having a versatile experience of more than 19 years
in finance and accounting field, worked and performed in different multinational sectors like
Hotel industry, Oil & Gas Sector, Telecom industry and Telenor Group. My current designation
encompasses following roles and responsibilities which are in compliance with Telenor group
strategy.

As a Pricing Manager I am responsible for the development of an operational efficiency


agenda in order to reduce the operating cost, improve processes and reduce waste to achieve
business goals in harmony with the organizational strategy. Later make sure the timely
development and efficient implementation of Costing & Pricing model for all GSS services.
Finally, provide awareness and training sessions on the pricing model and pricing strategies
along with lesson learned within Telenor Group.

B. Business / Project Controller:

Ensure data accuracy, month-end and year-end financial closing & reporting as per group
deadlines and according to International Accounting Standards (IAS). Preparation of forecast,
budget, annual target and provide support to top management in decision making.

C. Contract Management:
Maintain a standard service catalog and prepare service orders for all GSS services in order to
achieve standardization across Telenor Group. Standardization will help to resolve dispute into
prices and services and will also help to reduce non-productive efforts.

G. Internal Control Manager:

As an internal Control Manager, I monitor the performance of internal control exercise


regularly against established benchmarks to timely mitigate the risk and address all the
constraints in order to achieve the overall group target. Regularly update top management
with high risks.

 2. What are the key motivators that have encouraged you apply to this course?

I am truly ambitious and highly motivated individual in a confident manner. I am keen to learn
new ways of working and want to contribute to Telenor’s digital journey. I strongly believe that
this course will provide in-depth knowledge about Telenor strategy, goals and its ultimate
mission. This training will also enable me to implement my ideas to achieve Telenor’s digital
journey.

Good and strong collaboration between team members and business units is the main
prerequisite to perform in an effective manner and achieve digital journey. This training will
provide an ultimate learning-based platform and culture to discuss and share the ideas,
implement them collectively and work as a team member.

C. New and advanced learning opportunities:

Through this training, new and advanced learning tools and techniques will be explored to
enhance current skills and will play a vital role in the process improvement.

D. Learn & adopt Agile way of work

This training will provide a strong focus on the RED way of working and agile methods. This
could be a paradigm shift towards new ways of learning and leave the old practices behind.

The prime motivation is to seek essential value of this program which can be broadly shared
and the unique potential of the forum can be fully realized as an instrument for global
transformation and making the goals and target of digital journey achieve.
3. How would this course help you in your daily work?

I had developed pricing models with the help of other stakeholders, to help in the decision-
making process, strategy process, improve revenue streamlines, and close coordination along
with follow-ups with the customers in order to be truly customer-centric.

This training will definitely help me in the following manners:

A. Simplification of financial modeling:

There is a need to introduce simplifications in financial models and charge-back models. This
simplification would help to increase more control, more transparency and low cost for the
customers.

B. Improvement & transform current practices:

New agile methods and modern learning techniques will help me to transform current ideas
into a digital form. I will implement accelerate course learning into my daily work because I
know there are still some room and need to make things into the more simple and agile way.

We are wasting a lot of time in routine tasks and non-productive works that practice needs to
be transformed into a digital structure to achieve overall Telenor group strategy.

C. Accounting processes:

There is a need to introduce lean accounting methods and processes to achieve Telenor
strategy, hence top management can make the decision on time. This lean process will also
help to optimize the resources.

4 What makes you an appropriate candidate?

My versatile multinational and multi-cultural professional experience and finance education


makes me an appropriate candidate for this course. During my career, I had implemented
new functionalities into ERP systems to reduce workload, enhance the system performance,
and improve individual performance and capabilities as well.

I have a better understanding and knowledge about the business and their respective
challenges. I strongly believe that this course will boost up my skills and knowledge. Further, I
will share my own versatile experience with other business units and peers during this course
to make this digital journey valuable and successful.
5. How does this upskilling fit within your goals?

Last year, I had completed an online training by INSEAD on a ‘Strategy Execution Program
(SEP)’. This course will be a good add on in my area and help me to upskill my capabilities
within my current roles and goals in order to achieve a digital journey.

As a finance expert, my role is very critical for the Telenor Group, my input and analysis have
a high impact for investment decision. These courses will definitely upskill my analytical
approach and communication skills.

A. Effective & Strong Communication:

This course will help me to improve communication skills. Effective and strong communication
always plays a vital role to achieve goals and strategy

B. Implement new ideas and improvement in existing processes:

RED ways of working will help me to introduce new ideas effectively and will also help to
improve existing processes to minimize cost and time.

C. Timely and effective financial reporting:

Timely and effective financial reporting to top management is very helpful in the decision-
making process. Through an agile method, this process could be improved more.

D. Personal and career development:

I strongly believe that this course will play a vital role in competence building and personal
growth. Further, it will also provide a platform to enhance knowledge.

6. What commitments can you make for cascading knowledge from this course to others?

I always transfer my knowledge to my colleagues and team members in terms of training,


guidance material, etc. In the past I had conduction many workshops within my team, my
departments and also with the other business units on pricing and costing models. n order to
give them a complete understanding about how they can implement an agile way to reduce
the waste in their processes and to reduce the cost.

I will definitely pass on the same knowledge to my team and colleagues this time as well,
further will try my best to make the business processes more smooth and agile to achieve
digital journey and follow Telenor group strategy.
7. What are your expectations from this course?

I have the following expectations from this course:

Telenor Strategy: This course will give me complete insight about the strategy and also
help me to understand Telenor’s corporate strategy

RED way of Working: Will learn how to implement a red way of working into daily and
project works in an effective manner to achieve ultimate target.

New Skills: I will learn about the new skills and agile method to achieve overall ambition.

Digital Journey: I will learn how to transform old fashion techniques into a digital way.

Effective team member: Will be an effective team member and work together with
other business units to achieve the ultimate goals and targets.

Collaboration: This course will strengthen collaboration and relationship with Business
Unit and peers across Telenor.

course?

After successfully completion of this course, I will adopt RED way of working and agile
methods into my current roles and responsibilities in the following manners:

achieve overall efficiency into business processes.

Implement new ideas: Will implement new ideas into daily and routine tasks to achieve
operational efficiency.
