1-5 Improvements to ease restrictions on maintenance
Description Improvements to ease restrictions on maintenance are implemented. In particular, the
following operations are allowed.
1- LDEV format for RAID groups other than those in copy processing during Dynamic
Sparing, Correction Copy, and Copy Back
2- Replacement of PDEVs other than ones in LDEV format processing during LDEV format
3- Online micro-program exchanges of other than DKU and SCHIP during Dynamic
Sparing, Correction Copy, and Copy Back.
4- Installation/removal of CHA, DKA, cache, MPB, and RAID group while data has been
backed up in a spare drive. However, a RAID group and spare drive which are in backup
process cannot be removed (current specification).
5- Installation/removal of external volumes and virtual volumes from Storage Navigator
while a PDEV is blocked.

1-6 Modification for DT tier configuration condition


Description The following are supported.
1- Coexistence of 4 or more drive types in a DP/DPz or DT/DTz pool.
- 4 or more drive types can coexist in a DP/DPz or DT/DTz pool.
- If 4 or more drive types coexist in a DP/DPz or DT/DTz pool, the drive type with the
highest priority goes in Tier1, the drive type with the second highest priority goes in Tier2,
and other drives are mixed in Tier3.
Priority order (from high to low) = SSD, SAS 15K, SAS 10K, SAS 7.2K, SATA, external
high, external middle, and external low.
2- Tiering external drive
- External volumes can be classified in external high, external middle and external low by
the user.
- Those classified external drives can exist as an individual tier.
3- Coexistence of RAID levels in a tier
- Different RAID levels can coexist in a tier.
- If drives of the same drive type and different RAID levels are used in the same DP/DPz or
DT/DTz pool, the drives belong to the same tier.

1-7 Support for rebalance of usage rate among parity groups with pool volumes
Description New System Option Mode 917 is available to average the usage rate among parity groups
with pool volumes defined to reduce drive load of the parity groups.
- Mode 917 = ON (default):
Usage rate is averaged among parity groups where pool volumes are defined.
- Mode 917 = OFF:
Usage rate is averaged among pool volumes without considering parity groups.

1-8 Support for Load Balance Mode


Description As an option for external volumes, Load Balance Mode is supported.
The Load Balance Mode determines a method to balance the load when multiple paths are
used, has 3 modes; Normal Round-robin (normal mode), Extended Round-robin (extended
mode), and Disabled (using only one path), and can be set and referred from Storage
Navigator and CCI.

1-9 Support for delta resync when TC/ UR and TCz /URz in same CTG
Description The Delta resync function is supported when TC/UR and TCz/URz pairs are in the same
CTG.

1-10 UR restore processing improvement


Description The allocation for a UR/URz restore processing is changed from per pair volume to per
track (slot), so that the restore processing performance can be maintained without reducing
the restore multiplicity on the secondary volume side even though the number of pairs in the
journal is small or the data update processing is focusing on a specific pair volume.

New System Option Mode 909 is available to disable the UR/URz restore processing
improvement.

Description Dump information can be collected from an SSW that is blinking at a replacement of the
SSW whose SAS port is blocked.

Description System Option Mode 786 is available to report to MCU the pair status on TC/TCz RCU side
even when there is no RIO and the pair status on RCU changes after the remote copy path

Description The following security enhancements are done for SVP.
- Unnecessary TCP ports of SVP are blocked.

- Components of SSL Ciphersuite that contain vulnerability are excluded.

2-1 Support for zHPF Multi Track function


Description The Multi Track function of High Performance FICON (zHPF) in Mainframe (IBM host)
environment is supported. The zHPF Multi Track function is an expansion of zHPF and
enables reading/writing multiple tracks by a single command.
With this support, the following become available:
-Overhead of command processing can be reduced as much as possible.
-Path band can be used efficiently.
-High-speed fully-duplicated transfer is available.

2-2 Support for z/OS FICON Discovery and Auto Configuration for System z
Description Z/OS FICON Discovery and Auto Configuration for System z function (zDAC) in
Mainframe (IBM host) environment are supported. The zDAC is a function to do the
following operations automatically.
-To detect new or updated devices
-To create configuration definition of I/O devices
This function enables to automate and simplify operations that rely on users, such as
reduction of the time required to set up new I/O devices, mitigation of requirements for
expertise skill, and keeping consistency of the entire system and storage system definitions,
so that management cost of users can be reduced drastically. This function is a z/OS
function. For the information of system environment, operating procedures, and notes, see
documents provided by IBM such as Readbook.

2-4 Support for 3DC multi target and cascade of URz
Description In Mainframe environment, 3 data center (3DC) multi target and cascade configurations
using Universal Replicator for Mainframe only are supported.
-Multi target: A function to back up the data in a P-VOL (primary site) to 2 S-VOLs
(secondary site).
-Cascade: A function to back up the data in a P-VOL to an S-VOL (intermediate site), and
then back up the data in the S-VOL to another S-VOL (secondary site).

2-5 Support for ELB (Extended Long Busy)


Description - TrueCopy for Mainframe
The time of TCz SCP (Status Change Pending) setting, which is currently 600 seconds at the
maximum, is increased to up to 6 days. With the support, when SCP is set to a TCz pair by a
Freeze command and so on, host I/Os become in Extended Long Busy status and are
pending for up to 6 days until the Freeze is canceled by a Run command. In the case that the
host system cannot be stopped or switched to the RCU within 600 seconds after a Freeze
setting, this function can prevent data update on the MCU side which may occur if SCP is
canceled.
- FlashCopy
The time of FC SCP (Status Change Pending) setting, which is currently 600 seconds at the
maximum, is increased to up to 6 days. With the support, when SCP is set to an FC pair by
an Establish command with Freeze option specified, host I/Os become in Extended Long
Busy status and are pending for up to 6 days until the SCP setting is canceled.

2-6 Support for Query Storage Controller Status command


Description For compatibility with IBM hosts, the Query Storage Controller Status command is
supported. New System Option Mode 915 is available to disable this support.

2-7 Support for SOM598 to report SIM for JNL overflow


Description When the usage rate of meta data or journal data space reaches the threshold value (80%),
SIM (DCE0, DCE1, DCE2, or DCE3) for a JNL overflow warning is reported to the host.
New System Option Mode 598 is available to enable the SIM report.

3-1 Support for per-page allocation policy setting
Description Per-page policy setting is supported.
Tier allocation policy (Level1 only) can be set per page.
Per-page setting is prioritized over per-virtual VOL setting.
Frequency distribution information per lane of DT can be obtained from RAID Manager
Lib. The setting and reference are only available on Hi-Command.

Description New Host Mode Option 68 is available to enable Linux to issue Write Same (16) command
so that pages that the host has used are released.
-Mode 68 = ON:
The Version field of Standard Inquiry is set to 05h.
LBPRZ and LBPME bit of Read Capacity (16) are set.
Block Limits VPD Page and Logical Block Provisioning VPD Page are supported.
-Mode 68 = OFF (default):
The Version field of Standard Inquiry is set to 02h.

JNLG
Phenomena When a suspend operation was performed for all UR/URz pairs (8192
pairs) in a JNLG with LU specified, SSB=EDBF and SIM=DC0XXX
were output and the operation turned to a failure suspension.

Conditions of Occurrence The problem may occur when all the following conditions are met.
(1) Universal Replicator or Universal Replicator for Mainframe
(2) System Option Mode 449 is set to OFF.

DKA is installed.

(1) A CMF PCB is removed.
(2) At the location where the above CMF PCB removal is performed, a
DKA is installed.

Phenomena Even though multiple SSBs were supposed to be output, only one SSB

8 Unintentional change of Tier Management mode
Phenomena For DT where Tier Management mode was Auto, when tier capacity
ratio for new allocation was changed from CCI (raidcom modify pool
-pool <pool ID#> -tier <Tier number> <ratio>), the Tier Management
mode changed to Manual.

Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when all the following conditions are met.
(1) DT where Tier Management mode is Auto.
(2) One of the following operations is performed from CCI.
(a) Change of tier capacity ratio for new allocation (raidcom modify
pool -pool <pool ID#> -tier <Tier number> <ratio>)
(b) Change of buffer rate of tier for relocation (raidcom modify pool -
pool <pool ID#> -tier <Tier number> -tier_buffer_rate <%>)

178 Failures of relationship status display on Storage Navigator
Phenomena Phenomenon1
When an FCv2 relationship was created while sharing the source VOL
(S-VOL) with an already-created FCSE relationship, the S-VOL of
FCv2 did not become Normal status on Storage Navigator.
Phenomenon2
When an FCSE relationship was created while sharing S-VOL with an
already-created FCv2 relationship, the S-VOL of FCSE did not
become Normal status on Storage Navigator.
Phenomenon3
When an FCv2 relationship was deleted while FCSE and FCv2 shared
S-VOL, the S-VOL of FCv2 remained in Normal status on Storage
Navigator.
Phenomenon4
When an FCSE relationship was deleted while FCSE and FCv2 shared
S-VOL, the S-VOL of FCSE remained in Normal status on Storage
Navigator.
Phenomenon5
When FCSE and FCv2 shared S-VOL and both relationships were in
Suspend status, if the relationship in Suspend status was deleted, the
status remained SUS on Storage Navigator.

Conditions of Occurrence The problem may occur when all the following conditions are met.

(1) FCSE relationship configuration
(2) An FCv2 relationship is created by using S-VOL of the FCSE
relationship.
Phenomenon2
(1) FCv2 relationship configuration
(2) An FCSE relationship is created by using S-VOL of the FCv2
relationship.
Phenomenon3
(1) FCSE and FCv2 relationships share the same S-VOL.
(2) The FCv2 relationship is deleted.
Phenomenon4
(1) FCSE and FCv2 relationships share the same S-VOL.
(2) The FCSE relationship is deleted.
Phenomenon5
(1) FCSE and FCv2 relationships share the same S-VOL and the both
relationships are in Suspend status.
(2) Other than the above, there is another FCSE/FCv2 relationship that
uses the same S-VOL and the relationship is not in Suspend status.
(3) The FCSE/FCv2 relationship in suspend status is deleted.
Causes and Updates The micro-program has been modified to fix the problem.
