DAILY LESSON PLAN IN GENERAL PHYSICS I

Grade 11 STEM 1, STEM 2 and STEM 3 – General Physics 1

First Quarter
Week 8/Lesson 1

I. LESSON OBJECTIVE/S:

A. Content Standards:

1. Position, Time, Distance, Displacement, Speed, Average Velocity and Instantaneous Velocity
2. Average Acceleration, and Instantaneous Acceleration
3. Uniformly Accelerated Linear Motion
4. Free-fall Motion
5. 1D Uniform Acceleration Problems

B. Performance Standards:

The learners are able to solve, using experimental and theoretical approaches, multi-concept, rich
context problems involving measurement, vectors, motions in 1D, 2D, and 3D, Newton’s Laws, work, energy,
center of mass, momentum, impulse, and collisions.

C. Learning Competency:

Convert and solve a verbal description of a physical situation involving uniform acceleration in one
dimension into a mathematical description. (STEM_GP12Kin-Ib-12)

II. CONTENT:

Topic/Subject Matter:

Solve problems about uniformly accelerated motions.

III. LEARNING RESOURCES:

- Curriculum Guide page 1

- Teacher’s Guide page 27
- Other Learning Resources/Learning Materials - Engineering Mechanic’s by Ferdinand Singer

IV. PROCEDURE

a. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Do a quick review of the previous lesson on vectors with some emphasis on the definition of
displacement.
b. Lesson Proper
a. Activity
Ask for two volunteers. Instruct one to walk fast in a straight line from one end of the
classroom to another as the other records the duration time (using his or her watch or timer).
The covered distance is measured using the meter stick (or tape measure). Repeat the activity
but this time let the volunteers switch tasks and ask the other volunteer to walk as fast as the
first volunteer from the same ends of the classroom. Is the second volunteer able to walk as
fast as the first? Another pair of volunteers might do better than the first pair.
b. Analysis
a. Ask the process questions:
1. What are the terms involved by doing this activity?
2. What are your observation on the activity?
c. Abstraction
a. Discuss and explain:
1. What is uniformly accelerated motion?
2. The formula of velocity, speed and acceleration.
3. The formula of uniformly acceleration motion.
d. Application (Contextualized)
1. What is the velocity of a bus that travels a distance of 400 km(North) in 8.0 hrs?
2. A turtle moves a distance of 1 m in 7.3 s. What is the speed?

3. From rest, a tricycle accelerated at 8 m/s for 10 seconds. a) What is the position of the car at
the end of the 10 seconds? b) What is the velocity of the car at the end of the 10 seconds?

V. DEVELOPING ACTIVITY:
1. With an initial velocity of 20 km/h, a car accelerated at 8 m/s for 10 seconds. a) What is the
position of the car at the end of the 10 seconds? b) What is the velocity of the car at the end of
the 10 seconds?

VI. EVALUATION:
1. Travelling with an initial speed of 70 km/hr, a car accelerates at 6000 km/hr^2 along a
straight road. How long with it take to reach a speed of 120 km/hr? Also through what distance
does the car travel during this time?

VII. ASSIGNMENT:

1. As a train accelerates uniformly it passes successive kilometer marks while travelling at

velocities of 2 m/s and 10 m/s. Determine the train’s velocity when it passes the passes the next kilometer
mark and the time it takes to travel the 2 km distance?
