Operating Instructions for UVWin7

Section 1: Installation

1 System Requirements

Operating System: Windows XP/Win7/Win8


CUP: Celeron 1.1G or above
RAM: 256MB or above
Display Card: 8M or above
Resolution: 1024*768 or above
*The Windows Regional and Language Options set to English (United
States)

2 Software Installation

Start the computer, and put the setup CD into the CD-ROM drive. Open the
folder on the CD from My Computer. Find the file “SETUP.EXE”. Please see
the screenshot (Figure 1) in below.

Double click the icon to start installation. Follow the instructions on the
screen to run installation until the window.

To uninstall UVWin7, just run “Uninstall UVWin7”.

Section 2: Introduction to Functions & Operations

1 Data Mode

Click File  Data Mode to enter data mode.

1.File Menu
1) New File
Clear all information and data. Create a new file.
2) Open File
Open a DTM file which includes data and is saved to the hard drive. As the
file is opened, (refer to the figure in below) Sample Name and Analysis
Wavelength will show the name saved last time while analyzing sample
and wavelength.

3) Save File
Save a file to the hard drive with this button. The file will be saved as .DTM.
When saving a file, it’s better to use the default extension, which makes file
management easier.
In the Save File dialogue, input the right file name and click Confirm. If
the file name already exists, the system will remind you whether to
overwrite the exiting file. If Yes, the file will be overwritten; Otherwise,
then quit Save File. If the file name doesn’t exist on the hard drive, it will
be saved directly to the disk.
4) Setup Printer
If the default printer is not the printer which is connected to the computer,
it can be revised via this function.
Note: the precondition is that the printer driver is already installed.

5) Print
Print data report.
Before printing, the Print Preview window will be displayed. If you make
sure to print, please click the print icon. Otherwise, click Close to exit Print
Preview window.
6) Exit
Exit the data mode and return to main page.

2. Port Menu
The setup window of port is shown in below.

The default serial port is “COM1”. If the currently connected serial port is not
“COM1”, please select the corresponding serial port and press OK. If
pressing Cancel, all revisions will be cancelled and the original settings will
remain unchanged. If the selected serial port doesn’t exist, or error appears
when open, error message will pop up.
The default baud rate is “9600”. If the baud of rate from the connected
device is not “9600”, following option will be provided:

Zero function distributes command for adjusting zero, and the equipment
will automatically adjust zero.
2) Full Scale
Full Scale function distributes command for adjusting full scale range, and
the equipment will automatically adjust the full scale range.

4. Data Area

If the equipment is successfully connected, the screen will display real time
data.

5. Button Area
1) “Zero” Button
Zero function distributes command for adjusting zero, and the equipment
will automatically adjust zero.
2) “Full Scale” Button
Full Scale function distributes command for adjusting full scale range, and
the equipment will automatically adjust the full scale range.
3) “Data” Button
Press the button, the acquired data will fill the following data form.

2 Quantitative Analysis Mode

1. File Menu
1) New File
Clear all information and data. Create a new file.
2) Open File
Open a STD file which includes data and is saved to the hard drive. As the
file is opened, refer to below figure Sample Name will display parameters
such as sample name, wavelength, stored last time. Formula is the
selected working equation for analyzing unknown sample. Correlation is
the degree of curve fitting. Unit is the concentration unit of the sample. The
above parameters can be revised according to different analysis sample.

3) Save
Save a file to the hard drive with this button. The file will be saved as .STD.
When saving a file, it’s better to use the default extension, which facilitates
the file management.
In the Save File dialogue, input the right file name and click Confirm. If the
file name already exists, the system will remind you whether to overwrite
the exiting file. If Yes, the file will be overwritten; Otherwise, then quit

2. Option Menu
1) Clear Data
Clear all information or acquired/input data and get the device ready for
analyzing next category of sample.
2) Setup Printer
If the default printer is not the printer which is connected to the computer,
it can be changed via this function.
Note: the precondition is that the printer driver is already installed.
3) Print
Print sample information, file information, standard sample data, unknown
sample data and working curve with printer.
Before printing, the Print Preview window will be displayed. If you make
sure to print, please click the print icon. Otherwise, click Close to exit Print
Preview window.

3. Curve Menu
Choose an appropriate curve to conduct curve fitting for standard sample. If
the standard sample data are as below:

1) First Degree Curve


This is a line with two coefficients. According to the above standard sample
data, the working curve is as below:
Conc. = 97.129 * ABS + 0.164
Correlation Coefficient: 0.9995
2) First Degree Curve (crossing at origin)
This is a line forced to cross at origin. The intercept is 0. According to the
above standard sample data, the working curve is as below:

Conc. = 97.129 * ABS + 0.000
Correlation Coefficient: 0.9992
3) Second Degree Curve
This is a curve with three coefficients. According to the above standard
sample data, the working curve is as below:
Conc. = -20.631 * ABS^2 + 103.550 * ABS – 0.062
Correlation Coefficient: 0.9999
4) Second Degree Curve (crossing at origin)
This is a curve forced to cross at origin. According to the above standard
sample data, the working curve is as below:
Conc. = -20.631 * ABS^2 + 103.550 * ABS + 0.000
Correlation Coefficient: 0.9998
5) Third Degree Curve
This is a curve with four coefficients. According to the above standard
sample data, the working curve is as below:
Conc. = -188.170 * ABS^3 + 66.639 * ABS^2 + 94.199 * ABS +
0.000
Correlation Coefficient: 1.0000
6) Third Degree Curve (crossing at origin)
This is a third degree curve forced to cross at origin. According to the above
standard sample data, the working curve is as below:
Conc. = -188.170 * ABS^3 + 66.639 * ABS^2 + 94.199 * ABS +
0.000
Correlation Coefficient: 1.0000
7) Input Coefficient
In the previous testing, the generated coefficient of the working curve can
be directly input with this function.
If the current coefficient acquisition method is not via keyboard input, the
system will remind you to create a new file. When the reminder appears,
click File  New File, and then choose this menu option again.
The window for input coefficient is as below:

If it is a first degree curve, coefficient K0 and K1 can be input, and K2 and
K3 cannot be input.
If it is a second degree curve, coefficient K0, K1 and K2 can be input, and K3
cannot be input.
If it is a third degree curve, all four coefficients can be input.

4. Calculation
If there is revision with standard sample data, this function can be used to
perform calculation directly, instead of using the function on Curve Menu.

5. Command Menu
1) Zero
Zero function distributes command for adjusting zero, and the equipment
will automatically adjust zero.
2) Full Scale
Full Scale function distributes command for adjusting full scale range, and
the equipment will automatically adjust the full scale range.

6. Port
The setup window of port is shown in below.

Enter the Setup Standard Sample window.

3 Setup Standard Sample Window

In the above figure, Sample Name shows the name of analysis sample.
Wavelength indicates the analysis wavelength of the sample. Formula is
the working equation used for analyzing unknown sample. Correlation is
the degree of curve fitting. Unit is the concentration unit of the sample. The
above parameters can be revised according to different analysis sample.

Sample No. is to configure the number of samples. The option is from 2 to

3. Button Area 2
1) “Edit Concentration” Button
On the data form of standard sample which has created curve, with this
button, the concentration of standard sample will be able to be edited.
Operations:
1. Move the cursor to the line which is to be edited on the data form
2. Click the button
3. Input the concentration of standard sample in the corresponding
column.
2) “Edit Data” Button
On the data form of standard sample which has created curve, with this
button, the standard sample data will be able to be edited.
Operations:
1. Move the cursor to the line which is to be edited on the data form;
2. Put the corresponding standard sample into the sample chamber;
3. Press this button.

4 Time Scanning Mode

Click File  Time Scan to enter time scanning mode.

This function is to configure parameters.


Wavelength is the time scanning wavelength for current sample. Based on
different sample, the wavelength shall be configured.
Measurement Method is the measuring method of time scanning for
current sample. There are two options, one is “%Tran”, i.e. transmittance
method, and the other is “Abs”, i.e. absorbance method.
For Time Start, Time End and Interval, the unit is “s” (for second). Time
Start is the starting point on X-coordinate, and Time End is the end point
on X-coordinate. It’s better to set up Time Interval with a figure which is
the multiple of 1 second.
Minimum Value is the starting point of Y-coordinate, and Maximum
Value is the end point of it. If Allow autozoom is chosen, the Y-coordinate
will adjust the scaling automatically according the acquired data.

1. File

Clear all scanning parameters and scanning curve. Create a new file.
2) Open File
Open a TIM file which includes data and is saved to the hard drive. As the file
is opened, parameters in the parameter area will be revised according to the
parameters saved in the file and the scanning curve is displayed in the curve
drawing area.
3) Save File
Save a file to the hard drive with this button. The file will be saved as .TIM.
When saving a file, it’s better to use the default extension, which facilitates
the file management.
In the Save File dialogue, input the right file name and click Confirm. If the
file name already exists, the system will remind you whether to overwrite
the exiting file. If Yes, the file will be overwritten; Otherwise, then quit
Save File. If the file name doesn’t exist on the hard drive, it will be saved

4) Setup Printer

Print scanning parameters and scanning curve.
Before printing, the Print Preview window will be displayed. If you make
sure to print, please click the print icon. Otherwise, click Close to exit Print

Exit time scanning mode and return to main page.

2. Operations
1) Confirm Parameters
Confirm the parameter settings. If any parameter is not correctly set, an
error message will pop up. According to the error message, revise the
corresponding parameter until no error message pops up any more.

2) Scan
According to the configured scanning parameters, perform time scanning,
and the acquired data will be displayed in the form of curve on the curve
drawing area.
3) Stop
Stop the scanning program.
4) Send Data to Excel
Send the obtained scanning data to Excel.

3. Port

and the acquired data will be displayed in the form of curve on the curve
drawing area.

Stop the scanning program.

will automatically adjust zero.
4) Full Scale
Full Scale function distributes command for adjusting full scale range, and
the equipment will automatically adjust the full scale range.
