Transport X

Portable Dissolved
Gas-in-Oil Analysis
(DGA) Instrument.
Transport X
• All gases measured together as a mixture.
• Extraction of gas from oil using standard extraction
technique;
– “Dynamic headspace” extraction - based on standard “static
headspace” gas-in-oil analysis technique.
• Sample analysis takes approximately 25 mins.
• Technique uses proven detection system (PGA).
• Very portable and rugged.
• No significant consumables required.

How does system work?
TRANSPORT X uses manually
taken 50ml syringe samples
On-line units automate sample
process
Gases then extracted from oil
sample using headspace
extraction – very reliable
technique
Then gas sample measured
using PAS module
Simple PAS Theory:
•Gases can be separated in frequency
domain
•Uses IR source and optical filters to
select particular freq. for each gas
•Strobed IR light directed into
measurement cell containing
extracted gas sample
•IR energy absorbed and released
from gas molecules creating pressure
waves (sound waves)
•Pressure waves measured by highly
sensitive microphones
•Sound signal proportional to
concentration of that gas in cell – this
is the Photo-acoustic Affect
Key advantages and differentiators
Rugged and suitable for life in
the substation
No Carrier gases or calibration
gases
Portable unit very simple to use
with results in 20 minutes
Can go from high to low gas
samples with no carry-over
Very high accuracy and
reliability
Minimal maintenance
requirements
TRANSPORT X Oil Sampling Procedure
• Sampling procedure is as laid out in Transport X operating
manual – Very similar to International Standard relating to
sampling of insulating oil into a syringe.
• 50ml sample collected into a glass syringe.
• Should be as close to 50ml as possible.
• Samples should be stored in cool place and shaded from
direct sunlight
• Sample injected directly from syringe into closed TRANSPORT
X glass bottle assembly.
Transport X Operation
• TRANSPORT X unit is designed to be very easy to operate
(compared to other DGA systems).
• Detailed procedures for all aspects of operation contained in
user manual.
• Unit is controlled via inbuilt touch screen.
• Step by step instructions given on-screen during standard
operation of TRANSPORT X. User simply has to follow the
numbered actions.
• Quick reference guide located on inside lid of Transport X unit.
Calibration
• No calibration required.
• Unit self-checks all critical functions every time a sample
analysis is initiated.
• Series of built in self-check limits will warn user if something
has gone wrong during the analysis.
How to be Sure!
• Optional cylinder of certified gas mixture for total system
check can be supplied – used at 3 month intervals it is enough
for approx 2 years of system checks.
Communications
• PC Sync to USB interface for downloading results to Delta X
compatible database.
– Unit can store up to 20,000 sample results in its
permanent memory.
• USB to USB interface for use of USB mouse or Keyboard.
• Supplied with PERCEPTION software

Unique Application for Arc

Furnace Transformer
Information is the key – not just
data
• One of the keys to successful monitoring is
being able to retrieve the data remotely
• Comprehensive comms options for modern
utilities
• The next step is converting that data in to
information for decision making
