Research Instruments

The researchers used the interview as it’s research instrument in gathering the profile data.

Data Gathering Procedure

In order to successfully get the data needed for the study, the researchers followed these steps.

First, the researchers crafted and sent the letters asking the permission to allow the researchers to

conduct a study on the “ The Effects Of Reading Wattpad To Students Behavior” for school year 2019-

2020. The letters was sent to the public Schools District Supervisor and to the School Head of Tayasan

National Science High School.

Second, the researchers conducted an interview to the selected Grade 10 students of Tayasan National

Science High School.

Data Analysis

The data were gathered, transcribed, analyzed and interpreted using words. The collected data and

information were used in a manner that would answer each question presented in this research.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

Wattpad. It refers to a mobile application in which you can read stories of different categories.

Behavior. It refers to the attitude of the students towards their academic life, relationships with friends

and family, mood and responsibility at home.

Academic Life. It is the student’s performance in school such as participation in class activities,

results of their examinations and their class standing.

Mood. It refers to the respondent’s psychological effect in reading wattpad.

Responsibility. These are the household chores that the respondents are supposed to do at home such

as cleaning the house, washing the dishes, cooking food and doing the laundry.

Addiction. It refers to the excessive used in reading wattpad.

Respondents
The respondents of this study were the selected Grade 10 students of Tayasan National

Science High School for the school year 2019-2020. The sample size was determined using the

Slovin’s formula set at 0.05 margin of error which employed simple random sampling. Out of

31 students population in Grade 10, 15 were randomly picked through raffle process.

Significance of the Study

This study will be beneficial to the study:


The Department of Education. The DepEd could make an action against the students who

used cellphones during class hours.


School Head. This research can help the School Head to make an immediate action about the

students who used cellpones during class hours.


Teachers. This research will help the teachers to be aware of those students using cellphones
especially during class hours.
Students. This research will help the students to realize that time management is very

important in all aspects of our lives.


Parents. This research make the parents realize that if their children always using cellphone

they must be aware and guide them of the things that they are doing.
