Summer is almost over (at least calendar wise, although
not heat wise) and school has begun. High school and
college football has kicked off the 2019 season and after
Labor Day weekend things should start to settle down.
Hopefully we will all get back into the regular habit of
being involved in Bible study through our LifeGroups and
worshipping together on Sunday mornings. Sunday and
Wednesday nights offer plenty of Bible study, music, mis-
sions and ministry opportunities for all ages, families,
couples and singles. As one of Bro. Mike’s “isms” says,
“we are better together” and how true that is.
I want to thank Gene Kim and Cleve Mallory for their will-
ingness to fill the pulpit over these past two months. They
have done an excellent job and we should all be thankful
to have them as a part of our ministerial staff. Not only
have they prepared Sunday morning messages along with
their other responsibilities, but Billy Dickey (food service)
and Jeremy Lynch (children’s sermons) have also helped
share the load of the responsibilities in the absence of a
lead pastor. Lance Maddox has had to deal with working
with me, so that should be an added stress. Seriously, all
of those guys have done an excellent job.
They don’t often get mentioned, but none of us ministers
could make it without our support staff: Karen Bush,
Cheryl Wells, Ashley Cumbie, Mary Ann Plemons, Linda
Truitt, Sonya Maddox, Jayne Burns, Cliff Huckabee, Eddy
Williams, Joe Clements, Willie Richardson, Gayle Knutson,
Ken Burge and Minnie Barnett. Please let these folks
know how much you appreciate them.
Beginning Sunday, September 1 we will have an interim
to our interim preacher on Sunday mornings. Dr. J.D.
Payne will fill the pulpit for the month of September with
the exception of September 15 when Cleve Mallory will
bring the message. Dr. Kevin Blackwell will begin as the
interim in October. Dr. Payne’s bio will be in my article
space for the Sunday, September 1 bulletin and order of
worship. I want to thank our interim pastor search com-
mittee members for finding such outstanding men to
preach on Sundays. The committee members are Jim
Hyland, Travis Norwood and Dallas Vick.
Let’s continue to pray for our pastor search committee
and most importantly, let’s continue to serve our Lord
together!

Teachers needed
We are still in need of two leaders for RA’s and one
teacher for 1st grade for Sunday morning.
Preschool Worship volunteers, please make sure to report
to your assigned room no later than 10:00 am to allow for
transition for our LifeGroup teachers and children.
Good News Club Beginning September 3rd
Come share Christ with our students and community at
Wares Ferry Elementary each Tuesday, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.
Bible Drill - returns September 8 as we get an early start in
the Fall on Sundays at 4:00 pm
WorldSong Children’s Mission Festival - October 18-19
We will leave from Montgomery at 2:30 pm on Friday and
return Saturday at 7:00 pm. Cost is $50 per person and

A monthly worship service for 18-25-year-olds at Clo-
verdale Baptist Church. Join us and over eight other
churches as we together lift the name of Jesus. Next
meeting is Sun, Sept. 29 at 8pm.

Will resume Sept. 5. New series on the book of Hebrews:
Fix Your Eyes. We meet on Thursday nights at 7pm at the
Kim’s.
College Student Encouragers
We are looking for church members who would be willing

es were weak attempts at disobedience, and so are ours.
Wednesdays are the lifeblood of our student ministry.

SUNDAY NIGHT GROWTH TRACKS
Sunday nights are for small groups. We are currently
offering four small group studies. It is not too late to
join! Call Cleve or Karen for a listing of courses. Sunday
evenings from 5-6 p.m.
GUEST SPEAKER REBECCA ELLIS
Sunday, September 15, at 5:00 p.m., the student ministry
is hosting a one-night event addressing how to walk
through seasons of tragedy and loss. Our guest speaker,
Rebecca Ellis, has a compelling testimony that will chal-
lenge and equip our students and parents to effectively
move forward in seasons of grief.
FALL RETREAT, OCTOBER 5-6
Fall Retreat will be a "Sisters and Misters" Week-
end. Plans are in the works for our guys and girls to
spend the weekend in separate locations building rela-
tionships with the Lord and each other. Details coming
soon. Save the date.

Missions Yard Sale
Will be the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5. Gently used, quality
items can be dropped off following the 2nd service on
Sept. 29. Pickup is available for larger items, but must
be scheduled through Karen Bush in the church office.

We are excited to have Big Daddy Weave in concert
September 18 at 7:00pm. Tickets are available in the
front office and online. There are many opportunities to

STUDENT CHOIR
Thank you to everyone who made our first student jam
of the year a success! And thank you to our students
who used their time, energy and talents to lead us in
worship last Sunday! We truly are blessed with an
amazing group of worship leaders!
On September 8 from 4-5pm in the Choir Suite, we will
kick off Student Choir for the year. We are excited to get
back together with a new set of worship music. If you
are new to Student Choir come on and bring a friend!

New Discipleship Class
The Apostles Creed by Matt Chandler
Wednesdays, beginning August 28, at 6:15 pm in room
116. Led by Travis Jordan. This study provides an in-depth
examination of the primary doctrines of Christianity, its
origins, and the pillars of our faith. It will lead to a greater
clarity of our religion, greater symmetry as a disciple, and
a more profound sense of belonging in the kingdom of
God. Books provided.
