The biggest challenge I personally faced while planning this lesson was figuring
out how I could get the audience to make the relation between Spanish and English and
allow them to understand the objective of the lesson without speaking any English.
2. What was the biggest challenge you faced while teaching the lesson?
The biggest challenge I faced while teaching the lesson was exactly what I thought I
would face while planning it. Since my group doesn’t have much knowledge on the
Spanish language it was difficult to speak the few words we knew while also trying get
our point across to the audience.
3. What did you rely on the most during your instruction to overcome these
challenges?
I relied mostly on hand gestures throughout the instruction in order to overcome these
challenges. When I wanted the class to answer the math question knowing they didn’t
necessarily know it was there time to speak, I had to point to the class and then point
back at the board to get them to understand.
4. Was communication with your students easier or more difficult than you originally
thought?
Communicating with the class was definitely as difficult as expected. I knew that having only
a little knowledge about the Spanish language would make this lesson super difficult along
with getting the audience to understand it as well would make it that much harder
Yes, I feel as though my group was organized and helped each other when someone
couldn’t find the words or gestures to use when explaining the lesson plan. We also
gave each other a fair amount of speaking time and never talked over each other.
6. Do you feel you achieved your objective? How can you be sure you did or didn’t?
For the most part, my group and I were able to complete our lesson with an
understanding of the objective. Although there were points of confusion and the lack to
find specific words, our audience was able to communicate back and understand the
overall perspective.
7. As a student of other group’s lessons, what was the biggest challenge you faced?
The biggest challenged I faced while listening to other groups was trying to figure
out and translate what they were saying to the English language.
8. As a student, what did you rely on most to comprehend what was being taught?
As a student, I relied mostly on gestures and symbols written on the board. For the most
part all the groups choice numbers, colors and symbols which gave a familiar
comparison to the English language.
