It’s that time again when St. John’s
volunteers are “manning” (can we say
that?) the Norfolk Food Pantry. Please
keep all these great volunteers and those
they serve in your prayers!
CHOSEN CHRISTCARE has been cancelled
for the first and third Mondays in
September. We will meet on Sept. 23
(Monday) for a lesson and the following
Monday for 5th Monday Dutch Treat. In
October we’ll resume our regular
schedule.

School Kits contain
essential supplies to help
continued learning, Each
school kit should contain:
FOUR 70-sheet notebooks of wide- or
college-ruled paper, approximately
8” x 10 ½”; no loose leaf paper
ONE 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with
centimeters on one side and inches on
the other
ONE pencil sharpener
ONE pair of blunt scissors (safety scissors
with embedded steel blades work well)
FIVE unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers;
secure together with a rubber band
FIVE black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel
ink); secure together with a rubber band
ONE box of 16 or 24 crayons
ONE 2 ½” eraser
Watch for the washtub in the west
hallway to leave your donations.

FILL THE CART
This year, instead of a
peanut butter pyramid,
we’re going to
encourage you to “Fill
the Cart”! Since
September is St. John’s month to serve
at the Norfolk Food Pantry, we are asking
you to be more generous with your food
donations and fill one cart with peanut
butter. A large delivery has already been
made to the Food Pantry, so let’s fill it
again! Of course, keep those other non-
perishable food items coming!
This fall, after 35 years in the ministry,
Pastor Edgar Schambach will be retiring
from the ministry. Prior to Sept. 29,

a Card Shower in celebration of her
90th birthday on Sept. 19. Cards and

The Lions Club parade is Saturday,
Sept. 21, at 10 AM. St. John’s will again
have a float (trolley) and are asking all
who would like to ride in the parade to
meet at church at 8:30 AM or on the
street in front of the Norfolk High School
at 10 AM. Hope to see you there!
On Sept. 8 during Fellowship Hour, we
will be bagging the spices for the soup
mix to go to the Norfolk Food Pantry. We
would like about 6 people to help with
this God’s Work, Our Hands task. Just
watch for the table at the back of the
Fellowship Hall on Sunday.
