1) How is the process of osmosis used in kidney dialysis?

Kidney dialysis machines use osmosis to take over the filtering function of
the kidneys. Dialysis machines use a semi-permeable membrane, which is
a membrane through which some small molecules can pass (such as
water, salts, and metabolites) but through which larger objects (such as
proteins and blood cells) cannot. Dialysis machines take the blood and
place a semi-permeable membrane between the blood and a large volume
of a liquid called the dialysis solution. Osmosis causes the metabolites to
flow out of the blood, through the membrane, and into the dialysis solution,
which is continuously replaced. The membrane also allows electrolytes to
pass through so that the blood can get rid of extra electrolytes.
Consequently, dialysis machines use the power of osmosis to get toxins
out of the blood and replace the filtering function of the kidneys.

2) importance of osmosis in daily life

It helps cells move important materials into and out the cell. Important
nutrients and wastes dissolved in the water move in and out of the cell
through osmosis.
Osmosis helps us sweat and regulate our temperature.
Fish that live in fish water don't have to drink because the water flows into
the fish due to osmosis.
Osmosis is very important to the kidneys and helps them work properly and
produce urine and get rid of harmful wastes in our body.
Osmosis occurs in intestines, with the majority of osmosis occurring in the
large intestine. As your body processes food, it moves from the esophagus
to the stomach and then to the small intestine. While there, your body
absorbs important nutrients via osmosis.

3)Does osmosis only happen in water?

Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of solvent molecules through a
semipermeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration, in
the direction that tends to equalize the solute concentrations on the two
sides. osmosis occurs until chemical potentials of every substance on each
side of the membrane are equal. As the substance cannot move through
the membrane, the liquid (solvent) do. For example, Osmosis takes place
in blood in transporting nutrients to the cells across the body.

4)Do dead cells also exhibit osmosis?

No dead cells do not exhibit osmosis.

5) Where and Why is reverse Osmosis used?

The direction of osmosis can be reversed if a pressure larger than the
osmotic pressure is applied to the solution side. The pure solvent flows out
of the solution through the semipermeable membrane. Reverse Osmosis is
used in desalination of seawater through the membrane.

6) is RO water hard or soft?

RO water is soft since it purifies the water from any substance like calcium
and magnesium in its process of reverse osmosis

7) how does RO water purifier work?

RO is a process to purify water from dust materials by forcing it to pass
through a semipermeable membrane by external pressure. During this
process the dust particles are filtered, leaving only pure filtered soft water
(show process through diagram)

8)is it safe to drink RO purified water?

RO water purifier removes salts of heavy metals dissolved in the water.
These salts are harmful to the body. Although it removes a few healthy
minerals from the water and makes it slightly acidic, it's not harmful in
anyway.
