Hawks Lead

Class Syllabus
Mr. C 2019-2020
Overview
Welcome to Hawks Lead! This semester, students will learn how to become strong leaders in
their school and community. In Hawks Lead, students will participate in a variety of leadership activities
to support Hilburn staff and students.

Hawks Lead Rules and Expectations


1. This is Hawks Lead, BE A LEADER!
2. Follow directions the first time they are given
3. Always show respect
a. No talking when Mr. C or other students are talking
b. If you have a question during class, please raise your hand
c. Respect your classmates’ opinions, workspace, and feelings
d. Always be kind and ready to work hard 
4. Be a responsible student by:
a. Bringing all materials to class
b. Coming to class on time
5. Class Rules:
a. You may bring a bottle of water to class (no juice or soda)
b. No chewing gum, food, or candy during class
c. Hilburn is a BYOD school. You may bring your device for schoolwork only if you have a
signed permission form.
d. Devices are for schoolwork ONLY. No social media websites, email, etc.
a. Points will be taken off if assignments are late
a. If you are absent, you are responsible for any missed work

Donations
We are always accepting donations. Some things we especially use a lot of include: lined paper,
clorox wipes, tissues, pencils, black pens, and electric pencil sharpeners.

Semester Coursework
For this course, students will learn how to become strong leaders in their school and
community. Here are some activities students will be participating in this semester. Some of the
activities will be completed simultaneously.

Activity Description
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Students will first read this book about leadership and
participate in various leadership activities.
Self-Reflecting & Leadership Activities Students reflect on their current ability to be a leader. The
activities will inform students about the different styles of
leadership.
Staff Support Students will help staff members (teachers, office staff, janitor)
with a variety of tasks.
Student Support Students in Hawks Lead will help students at Hilburn do things
such as: read to younger students, teach students how to tie
their shoes.
School Support Students will help with keeping the school clean, creating
posters to reinforce the Positive Project character traits, etc.
