English for Academic Purposes cover the activities that improve our
writing and public speaking skills. It encourages us to develop our
overall language skills in academic writing, grammar, vocabulary and speaking. Academic text has a clearly structured introduction, body and conclusion. It includes information from credible sources that are properly cited and theories that are related to the specific discipline we explore. In this semester, we learned all about “Reaction & Concept Paper.” Reaction paper includes our reaction in a given situations (movies, pictures, and issues). It may be simple because it requires only our insights but it should always include facts regarding to the reaction. It may require taking down notes to be “supporter” standing in an issue. Next is the concept paper. Concept paper is the overview or the summary of the project of a full proposal. The uses of concept paper are the following: it serves as a foundation of the full proposal; it helps to determine whether a certain projects is feasible or not; it is used to pique the interest of the potential funding agencies; it is used to obtain informal feedback on the ides prior to preparing the full proposal. English for academic purposes refers to a set of activities that one can engage in for enhancing self-knowledge and teamwork. Widening and improving one-self can lead to success.
