Over recent decades, there has been an increasing fear of crime in

To conclude, there is a widely held view that nothing can be done to

prevent crime. In contrast to this opinion, I would argue that there are
options available that would help prevent crime and therefore reduce
the fear of crime.

Buddy i have a doubt,

Is there difference between preventing fear of crime and

preventing crime becaues in the fist sentence they have said
"Many people are too scared to leave their home because of a
fear of crime " then they go on to say "Some people think that
more should be done to prevent crime, whereas others feel that
nothing can be done"
So should we right about fear of crime or crime as a whole.
if we look at your essay you have mentioned in the first body
paragraph about fear of crime by saying about "negative news
stories" and in the same paragraph you mention about reasons
of preventing crime like "growing income gap".
Similarly your second body paragraph gives two solutions one
which can help to prevent crime by giving more ‘neighbourhood
watch’ and second it gives solution for fear of crime "more
positive potrayl by media".

Is this two different things or the same? Or maybe i am just

overaanalysing the question.

I think you are overanalysing it. But when you do
analyse a question, look at the opinion as that is what
you are being asked about. So in this question, this is
the important part: "Some people think that more
should be done to prevent crime, whereas others feel
that nothing can be done."
So if you just focus on ways to prevent crime, that
would answer the question.

The essay above does mention the fear of crime in the

first part, but only in relation to preventing crime, as it
says "Thus the belief is that whatever we do to reduce
levels of crime, people will still be scared". So that is
directly related to the issue of preventing crime and
whether it is worth doing more or not.
