THESIS PROPOSAL

Thesis Proposals must be accompanied by a linear outline, using complete sentences rather than
topics. The outline must be organized according to the following Chapters and Subtopics before they
can be accepted for consideration by the Thesis Committee:

CHAPTER I – INTRODUCTION
Thesis Statement
Statement of the Problem [what problem you intend to find answers to]
A general statement of the problem
Sub-problems (if applicable)
Objectives [must be related to your problem statement(s)]
Significance of the Study [e.g., how will your thesis contribute to the literature of law or
development of law in the Philippines]
Scope and Limitations [enumerate coverage of your paper and what you don’t intend to cover
and why]

CHAPTER 2 – REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

[Subdivided by topics – use your Problem Statements as guide for determining sub-topics]
[Your related literature must already give an idea of your conceptual framework; therefore, your
outline must show the relevance of the literature you are citing with your topic.]

CHAPTER 3 – METHODOLOGY
[enumerate the steps you intend to take in conducting your research]
