Riverwood Financial Information 

Financial information (School Budget) is unavailable at this time due to the inability of the State and County to
prepare a budget that has been accepted by all political entities. Our budget is determined partly by the State
Legislature and partly by the Johnston County Commissioners. Our state legislatures and the NC Governor have
been unable to agree on terms for teacher pay scales, retirement, and other areas of education that are necessary
for a budget. The 2019/2020 School year has started without any confirmation of a budget. Our County is also
in a similar situation. In July, the Commissioners turned down an increase of budget from then SuperIntendent,
Ross Renfrow causing schools to have to cut positions. Since that meeting, Dr. Renfrow has retired and
Johnston County has a new Super Intendent. Perhaps Dr. Crosby’s influence will generate a different outcome
for Johnston County Public School. All public schools in North Carolina are currently operating without a
budget.
