ZIPGRADE FOR STANDARDIZED EXAM GRADING

I. TYPE OF PROJECT
Academic project for assessment purposes of Capiz State University, to be implied to the
whole Senior High School Department, and if proven effective, can be implemented to Junior
High School Department and College Department.

II. PROJECT PROPONENTS

We have heard lots of cases regarding the problems of checking test papers and
we even experience it in our own. Fortunately, a good friend of ours recommended this helpful
app called ZipGrade. He elaborated the good uses of ZipGrade which made us realize that this is
a big help for the teachers of Capiz State University. So we have decided to propose this project
and implement it to the entire Senior High School Department of Capiz State University to help
both teachers and students in checking test papers and making it as easy as possible.

III. NUMBER OF BENIFICIARIES

This project has 6 beneficiaries:
1. To minimize the time allotted for checking the test papers, and instead, use the extra
time in class discussions for the students to acquire more knowledge;
2. Prevent the occurrence of cheating – changing the answers of peers;
3. All scores are accurate depending from what the students have garnered;
4. The grades are rest assured to be recorded; and
5. Lesser consumption of papers – instead of using large amount of bond papers, eco
papers can be used and only the bubble answer sheets will be printed.

IV. PROJECT BENIFICIARIES

This project will be of benefit to the following:
1. Teachers – will spend lesser time checking and counting scores of the students. The
teacher’s time will be either spent in teaching another lesson or for helping the students cope up
with their difficulties. Easy way of checking, no more hassle and time-consuming manual check.
Cheating or changing of answers written in the bubble answer sheet will be prevented.
2. Students - they can learn new lessons, instead of spending time checking test papers. Fair
grading in exams and quizzes. Scores will be surely recorded without losing any data. Shading is
easier than writing the whole question and choices. Students can receive feedback immediately
as soon as their papers are scanned because ZipGrade uses student ID numbers or written name
for grade reporting. No need for scantron machines.

VIII. BUDGET REQUIREMENT

The app download in PlayStore doesn't require any payments. Anyone can download it
for free and only requires for a stable internet connection.

IX. BUDGET REQUESTED

ZipGrade asks for ₱313.40 if you want to scan with no limits. But you can use the free
trial with a limit of 100 scans per month. Another 100 scans will be given by the application for
the next month of usage.

X. BACKGROUND/SITUATION ANALYSIS
We usually conduct an examination or a quiz in school in order for the teachers to assess
the capabilities of their students and if they have fully understood the lesson. However, checking
test papers is time-consuming, because it is supposed to be used for follow-up lessons, but is
usually consumed by checking the papers, which leads to overtime, and worse, other topics are
not discussed well. In some instances, teachers often forget to record the scores garnered by their
students resulting to incomplete grades. Aside from that, cheating also occurs. Some students
change the answers of their peers so they can acquire good remarks. Teachers cannot prolong
whenever these situation arise, that’s why we have come up with the idea of using ZipGrade as
an accompaniment in school assessments.

STRATEGIES
ZipGrade automatically checks the papers of
the students within just one scan – no more
wasting of time checking the test papers one by
one.
The teachers are the one responsible for
scanning the bubble answer sheets, so students
are unable to change the answers that are
already written in test papers.
Papers will be passed to teachers once the
exams are done, so the teachers will be able to
see the raw scores of the students with no
changes done, and will be scanned by
ZipGrade so the students’ scores are fresh and
accurate.
ZipGrade automatically records the scores of
the students. The names o student numbers are
used by ZipGrade in recording.
The traditional test papers used in Capiz State
University are the long ones with all the test
questions written on the sheets. But in
ZipGrade, no need for long substance 20 test
papers but only small sizes of eco papers
(depending on the number of items in the given
exam) with bubble answer sheets will be used.
The test question will be flashed in the screen
instead.

XII. DESIRED IMPACT AND OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT

1.) The students can acquire more learning from the teachers since their time will be
spent only in teaching and will not be wasted in checking the test papers of the
students.
2.) The teachers are able to see the raw scores of students without cheating in the scores.
3.) The usage of papers will be lessening, because the test papers will only be printed
with bubble answer sheets instead of test questions.
4.) The students can save money from the paid test papers. From the ₱2.00 – ₱5.00, they
will only pay ₱0.50 –₱1.00 per sheet.
XIII. RISK AND MANAGEMENT PLAN
There are some problems with the answer sheets provided by the teachers, for example,
the answer which is registered in the application is wrong. If ever that case happens, the teachers
will be the ones responsible for the matter. The students however, are able to check the answers
since the teachers will send their sheets recorded from the ZipGrade. They have the right to
complain about the correction and the teachers will take responsibility of the situation.
