INTRODUCTION
World population growth is reaching the point where available fresh
water is insufficient for the basic needs of Human being (e.g. for
agricultural, industrial and domestic use). This water scarcity problem
is becoming particularly acute in arid and semiarid region of the
world. Ensuring sustainable fresh water for human being and natural
ecosystem requires the development of well-informed environmental
policies and well-designed water and wastewater treatment system.
Hence, there is a growing need to treat and recycle the wastewater and
fulfil the water demand in the areas where fresh water availability is
scarce. Hence wastewater treatment with the “Zero Liquid Discharge”
concept is a very vital issue to be addressed considering the
environmental and health impacts of using toxic wastewater. Hence in
this workshop eminent experts will be delivering their lecture and
share their novel ideas on wastewater treatment so as to recycle the
wastewater as a sustainable source of water.
COURSE STRUCTURES
The Course contains the theory section by invited expert lectures,
assignment and a test. The workshop will have lecture series on the
following topics:
 Introduction and importance of recent trends in water and
wastewater treatment
 River Hydraulics and spatial hydrological modeling for flood
inundation mapping
 Application of advance remote sensing and GIS technique in
flood risk and river basin management
 Advanced wastewater treatment methods like Fenton, Photo
Fenton, Photo catalysis, membrane separation, membrane bio
reactor, sonolysis, adsorption, and aerobic and anaerobic
biological treatment methods
 Overview of recycling aspect of wastewater treatment and its
importance to the environment and human being
