C. Motivation
1. 𝑥 2 + 25 = 10𝑥
2. 𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 = 5
D. Lesson Proper
The teacher will give examples, and let the students solve
the given equations.
What is a Discriminant?
A discriminant is a value calculated from a quadratic
equation. It is used to “discriminate” between the roots (solution) of a
quadratic equation.
SOLUTION:
𝒙𝟐 − 𝟐𝒙 = 𝟏𝟓
𝒙𝟐 − 𝟐𝒙 − 𝟏𝟓 = 𝟎
a=1 b=-2 c=-15
D=𝒃𝟐 − 𝟒𝒂𝒄
D=(-2)2 -4(1)(-15)
D=4+60
D=64
