is assigned) by reading in Scripture everything that concerns Abraham. Each group needs at least
2 months of meetings to prepare their theme well.

 Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC)

 Biblical Message for Our Time by Alfred Lapple, Pauline Editions
 Christ in the History of Salvation by Luis Rubio Moran
 Biblical Dictionary by Leon-Dufour
 The Jerusalem Bible (it has notes, cross-references and introductions to the
Books)

HOW TO CELEBRATE THE ASSIGNED THEME BEING DEDICATED FOR THE WHOLE MONTH :

First Tuesday/Wednesday (1st week) is the PRESENTATION OF THE THEME by the assigned group to the
community.

Schema:

General Intro/Admonition
Entrance Song
Opening Prayer by the 1st Responsible
Admonition to each reading and admonition to each song after each reading
(7 readings including the Gospel)
Sharing of faith experience
Spontaneous Prayer
Our Father
Sign of Peace
Closing Prayer
Closing Song
Announcement by the 1st Responsible/reminders from the assigned team

Second Tuesday/Wednesday (2nd week) is the giving of the CATECHESIS by the assigned group (all
members of the assigned group) to the community. It is not a celebration. The theme ABRAHAM for
example, will be divided in several parts and distribute the catechesis among the members (what struck
him most and what he has experienced in these 2 months of preparation/contact with the Word).

After the opening prayer and invocation of the Holy Spirit, all members who are seated in front facing
the community will now take turn in giving his/her part in chronological order. The activity will be
concluded with the spontaneous prayer, Our Father, sign of peace and closing prayer. Before going
home, announcement must be made by the head of the group on which home/host must each brother
go for the next Tuesday or Wednesday for the domestic meeting and what time they will start.

Third Tuesday/Wednesday (3rd week) is the DOMESTIC MEETING FOR THE QUESTIONNAIRE ON
ASSIGNED THEME to be done at home and not in the parish. The member of the assigned group is the
host of this domestic meeting and has its members previously divided for this said meeting and properly
announced/informed during the previous Tues/Wed. in the parish. The questions prepared by the
assigned group should not be more than 3 questions. Copies of the questions must be distributed to all
the brothers of the community. Examples of questions : When did you hear the voice of God: “Leave
your land and your father’s house for I will show you a land..” “Who in your life is your Isaac”…
During the domestic meeting, the host prepares a table covered with clean white cloth, with fresh
flowers, table crucifix and lighted candle. After the host makes an opening prayer and invocation to the
Holy Spirit, then, each will start to answer all the questions being distributed by the host. It will be
concluded with spontaneous prayer, Our Father, sign of peace and closing prayer. The host of the
meeting does not have to prepare supper. A cup of coffee or softdrinks will do.

Fourth Tuesday/Wednesday (4th week) is the CELEBRATION OF THE WORD as a conclusion of the
assigned theme or as its final celebration. It will celebrate the 4 readings as you are used to, with
general intro, opening song, opening prayer, admonition to readings and to songs, sharing, spontaneous
prayer, Our Father, sign of peace, concluding prayer and song.

AS ALWAYS, THERE IS A CONVIVENCE EVERY MONTH ON THE SUNDAY AFTER THE THEME CONCLUDES.
The community holds a convivence based on that theme or dedicated on that theme which has just
unfolded. This is being prepared by the assigned group and not by the team of responsibles. During also
this convivence, the answers to the questionnaire can be a part in the sharing aside from the faith
experience from last month based on the theme.

REMINDERS TO THE COMMUNITY :

1. From now on, you will prepare less frequently but more intensely.
2. Only those who wrote their names in the Bible can come to the community celebration. Those
who were not in the scrutiny may continue walking but in a precatechumenate. No one else can
be invited to the community. Your community is now in a very special moment.
3. Couples are a different case. The community is always open to the wife of a brother who walks
alone because husband and wife are one flesh. A husband whose wife is in the community and
he wants to walk in the community, then he can enter. However, he has to attend the initial
catechesis soonest, and afterwards to the First Scrutiny.
4. In every Eucharist, after the 4 official intentions of the prayer of the faithful, the 1 st responsible
prays for the brothers who are not present and all the communities prays for them to the Lord.
5. When a brother cannot come to the community he should inform his/her 1st responsible the
reason why so that the community will be informed.
