The effect of different concentrations of sucrose on the size of potato discs was determined
by carrying out the following steps:
Step I: Using a cork borer, 5 cylinders of potato tissue were obtained. Each cylinder was then
sliced to make 10 discs of uniform size.
Kesan kepekatan sukrosa yang berbeza ke atas saiz dis kentang telah dikaji mengikut
langkah seperti berikut
Step 3: The discs were immersed in 100 ml of distilled water in a Petri dish labelled J.
Step 4: Steps 2 and 3 were repeated for the remaining discs which were then placed in Petri
dishes labelled K,L,M and N, each containing sucrose solutions as shown in
Table 1.1.

the enzyme is not active. When the temperature increases, the enzymes are more active.
Enzymes worked best at the optimum temperature and become denatured if the
temperature is increased above the optimum temperature.
Kadar tindak balas enzim dipengaruhi oleh kesan suhu.Apabila suhu rendah, enzyme
tidak aktif. Apabila suhu meningkat, enzim semakin aktif. Enzim sangat aktif pada suhu
optimum dan mengalami denaturasi apabila suhu melebihi suhu optimum.
Based on this statement, design an experiment to show the effect of temperature on the rate
of reaction on the enzyme amylase on starch.
Berdasarkan pernyataan ini, reka bentuk satu experimen makmal untuk mengkaji kesan
suhu ke atas kadar tindak balas enzim amilase.

K1- the concentration of sucrose solution is low//high
K2- the size of potato become big//small // the diameter of potato become
long/short
K3- water molecule diffuse in/out by osmosis
Sample answer:
1. when the concentration of sucrose solution is low ,the size of the potato
discs big because the water molecule diffuse in to discs by osmosis
2. when the concentration of sucrose solution is high ,the size of the potato
discs small because the water molecule diffuse out the discs by osmosis
Sample answer:
1. the size of the potato discs increased/decreased
2. water move in /out into the discs by osmosis
