DIGITAL PHYSICS

Decoding the Universe

Ediho Lokanga

Abstract

In this vital and ground-breaking exploration of the universe, the author has written a
compelling work allowing us to understand the universe through the computational and
consciousness model. In Digital Physics: Decoding the Universe, Ediho Lokanga argues that
information and consciousness may offer a unifying language for quantum theory and general
relativity, offering a new perspective on quantum gravity (QG) and the theory of everything
(ToE), thus contributing to a better description of the universe. There is no doubt that the last
few years have demonstrated the important role that information and consciousness play in
allowing us to understand physics and science in a new light.

Keywords: Consciousness, decoding, information, loop quantum gravity, quantum double-slit experiment,
quantum gravity, quantum mechanics, string theory, theory of everything.

1. Introduction

Information provides facts about our physical world. However, some researchers in the digital
physics community claim that consciousness is primary, that is, more fundamental than matter
and energy, and that information and consciousness underpin and make up the universe.
Experiments in quantum mechanics have demonstrated beyond doubt that consciousness plays
a fundamental role in every experiment. For instance, factors associated with consciousness
such as observation, measurement, thinking and intention have a direct correlation with our
physical world, as pointed out by several physicists.
2

The outcome of these experiments suggests that it is consciousness that creates reality. Our
thoughts and observations create our reality. The quantum double-slit experiment 1
demonstrates how our consciousness and the physical world are intertwined, making us
realize that the observer creates reality. This experiment (an illustration of the double-slit
experiment is shown in Figure 1.1) has played a key role in understanding how consciousness
shapes the nature of our physical world or reality. Although the scientific community have
not yet come up with credible explanations for the extent of this connection, the answer is
that consciousness is fundamental, the source of everything, and that electrons are embedded
with consciousness.

Digital physics (DP) is changing the landscape of theoretical physics and our understanding of
the structure of the universe, and a shift is simultaneously taking place towards an emphasis
on our needs, how we perceive others and our own place in the universe. It appears that the
study of the universe and the understanding of consciousness is likely to play a crucial role in

matter can display the characteristics of both classically defined waves and particles, while also displaying the
fundamentally probabilistic nature of quantum mechanical phenomena.

physics and in the search for a ToE2. Furthermore, it is now clear that consciousness can
access information via remote viewing, dreams, out-of-body experiments (OBEs) etc., through
recognition and intuition. Parallel or infinite universes exist simultaneously, and in our
dreams, our consciousness is able to cross over into parallel universes. Perception is the key:
as shown in quantum mechanics experiments, reality cannot exist without our consciousness.
Thus, consciousness is fundamental to nature, and is embedded into the fabric of reality.
Consciousness transcends space and time.

2. Information and Consciousness

Information and consciousness are the keys to understanding the intrinsic nature of the
universe. And by studying this consciousness, we can gain better insight into the lives of
every aspect. Great insights have been gained from studying atoms, electrons, plants,
minerals, animals, living and non-living entities, OBE, dreams, intuition, etc. by looking at
consciousness, and by examining psychic or non-physical phenomena which have so far
eluded physicists. Looking closely at the characteristics or fundamental properties of
consciousness and applying them to understand life, chemistry, physics and science in general
has been rewarding. It appears that there will not be a ToE without a theory of consciousness:
consciousness, or the energy embedded in everything, is the creative force that runs the
universe, including its chemistry, biology and physics.

One of the most important outcomes of this book is that the reality of consciousness should
be included in any theory of the universe or the ToE. Despite its success and achievements,
many physicists have come to the realization that string theory cannot be a ToE due to its
shortcomings. One outcome of string theory3 (ST) and loop quantum gravity4 (LQG) is the
2 A final, hypothetical single, all-encompassing, coherent theoretical framework of physics that fully explains
and links together all physical aspects of the universe

3 A theory that replaces subatomic particles with strings. The strings are either closed loops or open. They
vibrate in different ways, and the different modes of vibration give rise to all the different particles in the
universe.

realization that there are more than four dimensions in the universe, that is, three spatial
dimensions and one-time dimension. Physicists could learn from the universe of dreams,
where space and time are interwoven and the notion of the present, past and future does not
exist. The soul or consciousness can navigate these dimensions instantly and be at different
places at the same time. Thus, I see in the near future the possibility that consciousness could
be included into a ToE that allows for the scientific measurements of dreams, telepathy,
OBEs etc.

3. Conclusion

It thus becomes evident that it is consciousness that controls everything in the universe, in all
its aspects. Consciousness is the prelude to a ToE. For instance, light is made up of particles
called quanta or photons, and experiments have shown that photons may be conscious
entities, as they know about changes in the environment and respond in a manner which
suggests that they are endowed with consciousness. There is no doubt that experiments
conducted in quantum mechanics and quantum information (this is the information about the
state of a quantum system. It is the basic entity of study in quantum information theory and
can be manipulated using quantum information processing techniques) indicate that photons
and electrons have memory, process information and make decisions, suggesting that they are
embedded with consciousness.

This further suggests that consciousness is fundamental and is the creator. It is now clear that
physics is at a crossroads, and that consciousness must be included in the quest for the ToE.
In fact, science cannot be successful in building up a ToE without incorporating information
and consciousness. Consciousness may have been neglected simply because the central
concepts of physics are formulated mathematically, and that their physical meaning has thus
far been overlooked.

One of the most important conclusions of this book is that consciousness is the most

relativity. One of the most important conclusions of LQG is that gravity should be quantized.

fundamental aspect of the universe. Information and consciousness will bring a new world
view to the whole of humanity. It appears that some phenomena related to quantum
mechanics, relativity, and psychic effects require a new type of thinking similar to that put
forward in this book. I have shown that in order to be successful, quantum gravity (a theory
that attempts to develop scientific models that unify quantum mechanics “i.e., very small
things” with general relativity “very large things”) and the ToE should go beyond LQG and
ST and should incorporate information, consciousness, spiritual phenomena and phenomena
in various fields such as parapsychology, OBE, reincarnation, life after death, intuition, etc.

5. Digital Physics Series

For those interested in digital physics (DP) and keen to find out more, I strongly believe that
they may benefit from reading the five books of the categories. DP Series is intended to
provide a comprehensive introduction to the current debate on the physical principles
underlying the theory of digital physics (the physics of information, computation, self-
6

organization and consciousness). Its emphasis lies in providing the basic conceptual and
analytical tools underpinning further study in the area. These books are available on amazon.
Ideally, it should be read in the following order:

1. Digital Physics: The Universe Computes

2. Digital Physics: The Universe is a Programmed System

3. Digital Physics: The Meaning of the Holographic Universe and Its Implications Beyond
Theoretical Physics

4. Digital Physics: The Physics of Information, Computation, Self-Organization and
