Procedure of Designing a CRD of Two Factor Experiment

Factors:

I. Type of yeasts which are dry yeast and wet yeast denoted as ‘a’.

II. Type of sweeteners which are white sugar, honey, and brown sugar denoted as ‘b’.

Treatment replication is n = 2 replications.

1. Identify the treatment combinations where ab=6 treatment combinations.

a1b1 a1b2 a1b3

a2b1 a2b2 a2b3

2. Label the experimental units with number from 1 to 12.

3. Find three digits random numbers from block 3 for 12 observations from random
number table.

4. Rank the random number according to increasing sequences.

5. Allocate the first treatment combination to the first 6 experimental units and
repeat this step for remaining 6 experimental units.

𝑘 = 1,2
where:

𝑦𝑖𝑗𝑘 is the ijkth observation

𝜇 is the overall mean
𝜏𝑖 is the ith level of row type of yeasts
𝛽𝑗 is the jth level of column type of sweeteners
(𝜏𝛽)𝑖𝑗 is the interaction effect between type of yeasts and type of sweeteners
𝜀𝑖𝑗𝑘 is the random error component
