He arrived at Heidelberg. Heidelberg was one of the best

places that Rizal visited during his one-and-a half year
sojourn in Germany so much so that barely two days after
his arrival here, he immediately fell in love with the
historic and romantic city.
Chess player's club - A club where in the student made
Rizal as a member because of being a good cheese
player.
He resided in a German boarding house
He decided to transfer to a boarding house close to the
university of Heidelberg

Feb. 17, 1886

In a letter, he informed his family in Calamba of his visits
to the eye clinic of Dr. Otto Becker
In Heidelberg , rizal studied in german language.
Attended lectures in opthalmology as an observer under
Dr. Otto Becker and trained under two outstanding
ophthalmologists, Dr. Becker and Dr. Galwzowsky in the
Augen Klinik or Eye Clinic

He wrote to hounger sister, Trinidad, describing the
German girl as "serious, studious, and very much
attached to his work" However, she did not have that
"delicacy of hearth’ of the Filipino woman. He advised
Trinidad to read and read.

From Heidelberg, Rizal wrote his first letter to Prof,
Ferdinand Blumentritt. Blumentritt was an Austrian
scholar who had written good articles on the Philippines.
He became Rizal's bestfriend.

August 6 1886
The Famous University of Heidelberg held its Fifth
centenary celebration.

Whil1e in Heidelberg experiencing the feeling of nostalgia
for his parents and his country, Rizal wrote the poem "A
Las Flores de Heidelberg." Among them was his favorite
flower, The light blue " forget me not"
Summer Vacation at Wlihelmsfeld
Rizal lived in the beautiful village of wilhemsfeld, 12 miles
away from Heidelberg. He was guest f a kind protestant
pastor, Three months vacation with Pastor Karl Ullmer's
family. Dr Jose Rizal celebrated his 25th birthday with
them.
Wilhemsfeld is a mountain village at Heildlberg. He met
Dr. Luis D. Wecker - A pastor of the Vicarage of
wilhemsfeld. Which helps Rizal to learned l the
techniques of diagnosing of eye aliments. ( Nov 1885 to
Feb 1886)

When we want to travel to the other country one thing
that we would love to share to our family is our
experience and what we see in that country. Rizal wrote
the letter describing his life in Heidelberg and his
experience in Paris.
Germany is a beautiful and surrounding of old coolest
building that the same style and also have any kind
castle.
Paris is one of the beautiful country destination that
people would love to visit , because of the Eiffel tower
and Notre Dame De Chartres Cathedral.

As a son/daughter you will do everything to your mother
to help her sick to make her better. Rizal moved to
Heidelberg to study Ophthalmologists because of her
mother he wanted to surgery his mother eye that has a
cataract. He worked in the eye clinic of Dr. louis De
Wecker and also, he spent the 6months working as
assistant to Becker. Rizal loves her mother that is why he
chose to become a doctor because of his mother.1

nostalgic poem “A las Flores de Heidelberg” on April 22,
1886, when he just turned 25.
Nick Joaquin said that “the poem is one of the most
charming poems, luminous, not black, musical, not curt.”
It was published in the December 1896 issue of La
Solidaridad.
To pay tribute to the National Hero, a bronze marker
placed at the façade of this well-preserved boarding-
house reads: “In this building, former Ludwigsplatz 12,

1960.”

Another marker was affixed at University Eye Clinic where
our young doctor trained in ophthalmology. Rizal moved
to Wilhelmsfeld. He is regularly took three hours walking
the marvelously beautiful forest to attend his studies.
