DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

I. Objectives
At the end of 60- minutes period, 75% of the class should be able to:

a. Identify the sum of multiplying and dividing rational expressions;

b. Perform the right procedure in solving multiplying and dividing rational expressions;

c. Appreciate the importance of fraction.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Multiplying and Dividing Rational Expressions .
b. Reference: K-12 E-Math 8
c. Authors: Orlando A. Oronce and Marilyn O. Mendoza
d. Page: pp.142-144
e. Materials: Laptop, Projector, and Marker Pen.

III. Learning Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary

May I request everyone to (Students Stand for a prayer)

stand up and start our day with
a prayer.

Students lead the (Students Praying)

Prayer.

Good morning Class! Good morning Mr. Cultura.

It’s nice to see you. It’s nice to see you too sir.

You may now take your seat. (students sitting down)

B. Lesson Proper

a. Review
Class what was our lesson The lesson yesterday sir was
yesterday? about the multiplication and division
of rational expressions.

Very good!

What is multiplication and If the product of the numerator

division of rational expressions? divides it by the products of the
denominator.
Anybody?

Very good!
C. Motivation

Before we proceed to our new

lesson, let’s play a short game.
It is called “Memory Game. I
have a some Flash Card here it
composed of eight(8) parts of
pair and I want two groups that
will assign to arrange the
certain flash card. The group (Students Perform)
that who are able to finish,
they are declared as a winner.

So let’s begin! (Music Starts) (Students Perform)

Group 1 declared as winner.

Very good you may now take (students take their seat)
your seat.

D. Discussion:
Now, we will discuss to you the
multiplying and dividing rational
expressions.

Class how to multiply rational (Raising their hands)

expressions?  Factor all numerators and
denominators completely.
 Divide out common factors.
Very Good!  Multiply numerators together
and multiply denominators
together.

Examples; Multiply and simplify each.

To Multiply two fractions

𝑎 𝑐 𝑎. 𝑐
∙ = , 𝑏, ≠ 0 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑 ≠ 0
𝑏 𝑑 𝑏. 𝑑

3 −2 1. −2 2
1. ) ∙ = =−

Very good Class. 3𝑏 2
Now, Class we are done about
Multiplying Rational Expression,
now let’s proceed to Dividing
Rational Expression.

Class how to solve Dividing  (raising their hands)

Rational Expressions? Write the equivalent
multiplication statement using
the reciprocal of the divisor.
 Factor the numerator and
denominator.
 Divide of any numerator
Very good class. factor with any matching
denominator factor.
 Multiply the numerators and
denominators.
 Simplify, if possible.

Examples. Divide each rational

expressions.

7 7 7 12𝑥 7 6𝑥 ∙ 2
1. ) ÷ = ∙ = ∙
6𝑥 12𝑥 6𝑥 7 6𝑥 7

Very good Class.

Find the area of Square, Rectangle

and Triangle.
In Solving Area of Square, Rectangle
and Triangle it has a corresponding
formula of each shape. To solve just
substitute the given into the formula
and simplify it.

Area of a square: A=𝐱 𝟐

25
Solution:
4𝑥 16𝑥 2
A=𝑥 2 = ( 5 )2 = 25

Class what is the answer?

Very good class.

Area of a Rectangle: A=lw

7

Solution:
7 3 21
A = 𝑙𝑤 = ∙ = 2
2𝑥 𝑥 2𝑥

The answer sir

Very good class.

E. Application

From this time class, I

want you to solve here in the
board.

F. Generalization

Is there any questions?

Sir it is need to factor out the given
Yes, Mustacho!
problem.

No! it’s up to the given if it is

factorable or not.

Is it clear now? Yes sir, clear as crystal.
