JPX321 Series Exchange Side Terminal Module and Voice Splitter
User Manual Chapter 2 Installation and Cabling
JPX321series exchange side terminal modules are used to terminate PSTN intra-
office cable and connect jumper. It can be also used to test and open circuit, as well
as deploying DSL service and separate DSL signals from POTS signals at the office
end.
The DSL service can be deployed in expansion mode and new-building mode.

The module is applicable to the mounting situation with the rows spacing 250 mm or
more, where the JPX321-BM-128A is a vertically installed series and the JPX321-BM-
128B is a horizontally one.

1.3 Accessories
The accessories include IDC tool, testing plug, switching plug and open-circuit plug,
and etc.

The testing cord is 5 meters long, with 8 alligator clips corresponding to 8 contact

Note:
It has a similar appearance with AS-5K/AS-6X, but they are in different colors.
The module bar of JPX321 series exchange side terminal module is installed in
clasping mode and can be removed if required. Figure 2-1 shows a JPX321-BM2-
128B module bar installed on the support.

Note:
When installing a module bar , one side of it should be put in position appropriately first and then the
other side; as for removing , press one side of the module bar first till the clip withdrawing from the
installation hole, then the bar can be removed . The module bar may be damaged if overexerted.
Install the support onto the mounting pole in MDF with M6 bolts.
Mount module bars one by one on the support. The few bars which is colored
differently from the others should be installed on the left ( or the top) so that
different module bars can be distinguished.
Mount the ID mark.
The cabling management for PSTN cable and external line jumper is shown in Figure
2-4.

Note:
The external line jumper should be traced via the guide holes, and the others should be traced through
the space among the module bars.
The clamping relationship of POTS cable and the external line jumper is shown in
Figure 2-5.

II. Deploying DSL service with front plug-in voice splitter in expansion mode
The cabling management for DSLAM data cable , external line jumper and PSTN
jumper is shown in Figure 2-8.

The PSTN jumper should be traced via the guide holes, where as the others should be traced through
the space among the module bars.
The clamping relationship of DSLAM data cable , external line jumper and PSTN
jumper is shown in Figure 2-9.

The AS-5K/6X voice splitter is plugged in the front of the JPX321-BM-128A/B series
modules or JPX321-BM-64B series modules. Anti-reverse plugging structure is set.
Plug the voice splitter into the slot of the 8-loop module bar. Make sure it is in
position, as shown in Figure 3-2 (a JPX321-BM-128A/B module bar is taken as an
example).
