T650/T650M Operation
1. Start Up
Function: Press the Quick Start key to start operating the unit.
Operation: (1) The display shows “SPORTSART – T650”.After two seconds, “SELECT PROGRAM OR
QUICKSTART” scrolls across the display.Press the QUICK START key to start operating or press
the PROGRAM key to operate an exercise program.
(2) The PROGRAM LED flashes After pressing a program key, the associated program indicator
lights up. The setting window shows two seconds. If you press the <RANDOM> key,
the RANDOM LED lights. “RANDOM” appears.
(3) User age and weight setting When “AGE – 35”appears, press the numerical keys or
INCLINE▲/▼. Then press the <ENTER> key to confirm your setting.
When “WEIGHT -- 75 KG” appears, press the numerical keys or INCLINE▲/▼.
Then press the <ENTER> key to confirm your setting.
(4) After entering such information, you can start operating the treadmill.

2.SPEED Key
Function: Set speed function
Operation: (1) Press the SPEED <▲> key. Values in the speed window increase. Speed increases.
(2) Press the SPEED <▼> key. Values in the speed window decrease. Speed decreases.
(3) SPEED range: 0.2~20 KPH (0.1~12 MPH).

3.INCLINE Key Function
Function: Set treadmill incline position.
Operation: (1) Press the INCLINE<▲> key. Values in the incline window increase.
Incline operates up.
(2) Press the INCLINE<▼> key. Values in the incline window decrease.
Incline operates down.
(3) INCLINE range: 0~15%; increments of 0﹒5%.

4.STOP Key Function


Function: Leave an exercise program.
Operation: (1) In QUICKSTART mode, press the<STOP> key to leave the exercise program.
(2) If in the START mode, having entered user information, press the<STOP> key to
stop exercising. Feedback pauses as is.
(3) In any mode, hold the<STOP> key three seconds to leave the present mode
and return to start up screen.

5.CHANGE Key Function


Function: Change the display feedback row.
Operation: (1) Press the <Change Display> key while exercising to toggle from one
feedback row to another feedback row. Corresponding LEDs light. Top row:
CALORIES、SPEED、TIME、DISTANCE. Bottom row: CAL/HR、METS、PACE、INCLINE.
(2) In SCAN mode, the SCAN LED lights. Every four seconds, the display toggles
from one feedback row to the other row. If you press the SCAN key again, the
scan LED extinguishes. The display continues to show the activated feedback row.

6.CLEAR Key
Function: Clear entered values to 0.
Operation: Press to clear entered values to 0.

7.PROGRAM Key
Function: Select exercise programs.
Operation: (1) Press any PROGRAM key. Its corresponding LED lights.
(2) Programs include MANUAL、HILL、RANDOM、INTV、TRACK、FAT TEST、Wt LOSS、ZONE
TRAINER、FAT BURN、GLUTE

8.T650M Reverse Mode


Function: Enter reverse mode.
Operation: (1) Activate the treadmill through START mode, entering user age and weight.
(2) Once the treadmill is operating, press the MANUAL-REVERSE key.
REVERSE or MANUAL appears. Press up or down keys to toggle
between the two modes. Press the ENTER key to confirm your choice.
(3) Reverse mode cannot be accessed through QUICK START mode.
(4) Forward speed range: MPH: 0.1~12 MPH; KPH: 0.2~20 KPH.
Reverse speed range: MPH: 0.1~--3 MPH; KPH: 0.2~-0.5 KPH.

9. Basic Settings
Function: (1) Set KPH/MPH, total distance, and total time.
Operation: (1) Hold the <Change Display> key for three seconds to enter the basic setting mode.
Message window shows the current setting as either “UNIT - MPH” or “UNIT - KPH”.
Press the INCLINE<▲/▼>key to change your setting.
(2) Press the <ENTER> key to see the total distance:
“DIST-XXXXX KM”.
(3) Press the <ENTER> key to see the total time:
“TIME-XXXXX HOUR”.
(4) Press the <ENTER> key to see the display main program IC version, for example,
“CTL T650_1X”.
(4) Press the <ENTER> key to see the drive board main program IC version, for example,
“DRV T650_X”. Press the <ENTER> key to return to the startup screen. Or press the
<STOP> key to exit the basic setting mode.

1. Display Format: ERROR_X_Y_


X and Y above are placeholders. In their place are digits.
The X placeholder represents the following category of abnormalities.

1 Servo motor abnormality
2 IGBT abnormality
3 Incline motor abnormality
4 Power supply abnormality
8 Signal abnormality

2. Complete codes follow:


ERROR_1_1_:Servo motor encoder malfunction. Re-start machine.
ERROR_1_2_:Servo motor has overheated. Unit operates at half speed.
ERROR_1_3_:Servo motor sped up without command. Re-start machine.
ERROR_2_1_:IGBT excessive current. Re-start machine.
ERROR_2_2_:IGBT excessive heat. Unit operates at half speed.
ERROR_3_1_:Incline motor recalibration error.
ERROR_4_1_:Power switch is off.
ERROR_4_2_:Power supply voltage is too low. Re-start unit after power supply is stabilized.
ERROR_4_3_:Power supply voltage is too high. Re-start unit after power supply is stabilized.
ERROR_8_1_:Signal error upon start up.

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: Display shows E-1-1; unit does not operate.

Order Part Explanation
1. Turn on unit power. Drive board detects encoder signal.
1 Drive Board 2. After confirming the signal is OK, the drive board transmits the signal
to the display.
2 Data Cable The encoder signal is transmitted through the data cable.
1. After detecting the drive board signal, the display maintains
communication with the drive board.
2. If the drive board does not detect the encoder signal, E1-1 appears
3 Display Board on the display.

4 Encoder Encoder detects motor speed and direction.

4. Analysis
The reason E1-1 would appear is that the drive board does not detect the encoder signal.

5. Troubleshooting
A. Turn unit off and on.
B. Inspect whether the encoder wire is connected to the drive board.
C. Replace the servo motor.
D. Replace the drive board.

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: Display shows E-1-2, the overheated motor error message.
Unit operates at half speed.

Drive board detects the thermal sensor signal and transmits that signal

to the display.
2 Data Cable The thermal sensor signal travels via the data cable.
1. The display detects the thermal sensor signal from the drive board.
3 Display Board 2. If the drive board doesn’t detect a thermal sensor signal, the display
shows E1-2.
2. The thermal sensor detects motor temperature. In normal operation,
the sensor completes the circuit. When the temperature rises, the
4 Thermal Sensor sensor becomes an electrical open.

4. Analysis
The most common cause of E1-2 is that the drive board does not receive the thermal switch signal.
E1-2 appears and the motor operates at half speed.

5. Troubleshooting
A. is the thermal sensor wire connected properly?
B. Is the servo motor amp draw too high?
C. Replace the drive board as a test.
D. Is the walk belt worn or too tight?
E. Has the machine been used for a long, long time without rest? If so, shut off the unit 30
minutes to cool.

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: Display shows E-1-3, the motor speed error message.

A. Re-start the unit.
B. Inspect whether the servo motor wires are connected properly to the motor.
C. Replace the drive board.
D. Inspect the servo motor windings for a break.
E. Replace the servo motor.

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: Display shows E-2-2, the IGBT error code. The unit operates
at half speed.

The drive board detects the calibration switch signal and transmits it to

Re-start the unit after voltage stabilizes.

The drive board detects the power supply voltage and transmits a

Order Part Explanation
1. Turn on unit power. Drive board detects various circuit functions.
2. After inspecting for normal startup, the drive board sends

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: During operation, E-8-2 appears. Unit stops operating.

1. Definition: Motor does not operate. Drive board does not read encoder signal.

3. Operation

Order Part Troubleshooting


1. Press the SPEED key. The display shows the speed value.
1 Display Board 2. The display CPU sends the motor signal to the drive board to control
motor speed.
1. The inductor is only used on 220V products.
2 Inductor (220V) 2. The inductor stabilized drive board AC voltage to VH voltage and
transmits it to the motor circuit on the drive board.
3 CON7 Cable The display board signal travels this cable to the drive board.
After processing the motor speed signal, the drive board emits voltage
4 Drive Board
to the motor, making the motor rotate.
The motor operates according to the voltage it receives. Motor rotation

makes the walk belt move.
6 Encoder The encoder translates motor direction and speed into signals.

4. Circumstance of Malfunction

Press the SPEED<▲>or<▼>key. The walk belt does not rotate.

5. Circumstance of Malfunction
(1)The drive board does not emit voltage to the motor, so the motor does not operate.
(2) Motor malfunction prevents its operation.
(3) The encoder cable is not inserted properly or is defective.
( 4) When motor operates in reverse for up to 0.3 seconds, and speed exceeds 0.4 KPH.

6. Troubleshooting

Order Part Troubleshooting


1. Press down to insert the display IC.

2. Inspect cable connections at the display and drive board.
1. Inspect the data cable connections at the display and drive boards.
2 Data Cable 2. Inspect whether the data cable is pinched or crimped or cut.
3. Replace the data cable as a test.
3 Inductor (220V) Re-connect the inductor wire connections.
1. Re-insert CON 6.
4 Encoder
2. Replace the encoder as a test.
1. Inspect all wire connections on the drive board and inductor (220)
5 Drive Board 2. Replace the drive board as a test.

Motor 2. Inspect the CON 2 connection on the drive board.

1. Circumstance of Malfunction: (1) Turn on unit. Do not press any keys.


Display reacts as if keys were pressed.
(2) Turn on unit. Press a key. Display shows no reaction.

experiencing interference from itself, most likely the motor. Replace the motor as a test.
3-3. If a heart rate reading appeared on the other product with telemetry heart rate reception but not
on this product, inspect the telemetry heart rate receiver board, the HTR board, and the display IC.

2. Software Calibration and Testing
(1) Calibration through Operation
a. Continuously press the INCL<▲> key until the incline window shows 15%.
As the incline motor operates, LED3 on the drive board lights. When the incline motor stops
moving, LED3 on the drive board extinguishes.
b. Continuously press the INCL<▼> key until the incline window shows 0%.
As the incline motor operates, LED2 on the drive board lights. When the incline motor stops
moving, LED2 on the drive board extinguishes.
c. The AC incline motor operates until it hits the calibration switch. When it hits the calibration
switch, the AC incline motor stops operating. This indicates the incline motor is calibrated.

(2) Calibration when not in Operation


a. In QUICK START mode, press the STOP key.
b. In PROGRAM mode, continuously press the STOP key three seconds.
c. When the unit stops, turn on the unit again.
The feedback window shows the model number. Incline operates down until it hits the
calibration switch and stops. When you press the INCLINE key again, the value in the
INCLINE window shows 0%, indicating the incline is calibrated properly.

T650/T650M AC Incline Motor Calibration – Hardware Calibration Procedure
Step 1. Set the unit onto a block. Step 2. Detach CON8 incline calibration wire
from the drive board.

Step 3. Remove the incline motor cover. Step 4. Press INC DN key until the incline
declines fully. Then turn off unit power.

Step 5. Set off the AC incline motor down limiter. Step 6. Remove CON5 and the ground connector.

Step 7. Remove the R-clip and lower incline pin. Step 8. Remove the hitch pin and upper incline
pin.

Step 9. Remove the AC incline motor set. Step 10. Set the distance between holes to 264
mm.

Step 11. After calibrating the incline, Step 12. Press the INC UP key to 2% and stop.

complete calibration.

Step 13. Test Procedure
(1)Continuously press the INCL<▲> key until the INC window shows 15%. Incline
operates upward. Drive board LED3 lights. When the incline stops operating, LED3
extinguishes.
(2) Continuously press the INCL<▼> key until the INC window shows 0%. Incline operates
downward. Drive board LED2 lights.
(3) AC incline motor operates downward until it hits the calibration switch and stops,
indicating successful calibration. When the incline motor stops operating, LED2
extinguishes.
