- For surds you multiply the denominator by the same thing.

- E.g. root 3/root 3 means you multiply that by root 3 above and below. And note that
this does not affect any other number with no denominator since its as if you’re
multiplying by 1.

 In this question in part c, although it only worth 1 mark, it is actually linked to the
stem of the question if you read it properly and recognize the variables. Meaning
that the 2 terms in the brackets can also be written as 5 and hence 100 times 5 which
will give you 500.
