II. Case Study

Jeff is a college graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Entrepreneurship. He is from a prominent family
with businesses which range locally and internationally. Though his family has plenty of available executive positions for him to take
over, he decided to be an agri-business entrepreneur since he lives in Mallig, Solana with vast available agricultural lands his family
owns.
In at least 200 words per item, react with substance.
1. If you were his consultant, how would you advise him? Answer with precision and elucidate your contention.
 If I were to be Jeff's consultant, I would suggest him to take a look or take a deeper understanding about his decision
because it is not his family but his future that is at risk. I will present him the positive and negative effects of his decision
so that he would have the chance to clearly understand and have a clearer view of what he and his business will become
in the future. In addition, I would also suggest him to participate or attend into seminars and conventions so that he
would discover new knowledge from other successful entrepreneurs. Furthermore, his decision in entering into agri-
business is a concrete example of being an entrepreneur because base on its meaning, entrepreneur are individuals
that are willing to take risk to gain profit. But it is not 100% sure that all entrepreneurs always lead to success but in
Jeff's situation, it is safe to venture into agri-business because after all his family will always be there to accept him and
he has nothing to lose. At least he learned something from his experience that he can use if he would try to venture
again into new business. Lastly, I would tell him to apply all of what he learned from school. More so, his learnings will
be his best guide in his journey and my suggestions are only my opinions and his future is on his own hands.

2. Identify possible problems he may encounter in his venture.

 In Jeff's decision in entering into agri-business, many challenges or problems may come his way. And in order to
overcome this challenges, he should first have a clear mind and strong determination and faith to God. One problem is
that since Philippines is still a developing country, machineries and other agricultural equipment and technological
advancements may not always be readily available and this only means that all works in the farm should be done
manually. This problem cost much because Jeff needs to pay many laborers to accomplish or make all the works done.
And since Jeff is still new in this business, I am not sure if he can handle the expense of the money for the laborers and
money for his farm products. Second is that Jeff has already multiple competitors before he actually enter into this kind
of business. This only means that his business is not sturdy. Lastly, he may also have difficulty in availing support from
the government. So whatever major problems he may encounter just like the bird flu in Pampanga, he should face him
by himself and since he is new in this industry he may fail in concealing this issue because vaccinations for farm animals
or vitamins is much expensive. This means that agri-business needs high capital and failing to pay all what is needed
may lead to business bankruptcy.
3. What particular business opportunities will he be having? Consider his location and his type of business.
 Since Jeff's business is located in Region 2, it would present him many opportunities. First, he will have many available
land to put up his business into. Region 2 has many virgin and available lands and cultivating them and transforming
them into agricultural field may bring much profit mot only for Jeff but also for the locals. Jeff can put up there rice and
corn fields since Luzon is one of the top producer of agricultural products inside and outside the country. If he would
invest more on this, he would surely gain back or make his profits doubled in the harvest season. Many agricultural
entrepreneurs in Cagayan are also easy to be with so it is not a problem for Jeff to have a partnership with them and
make their business improve. He can also have the chance to have many laborers because Cagayanos are known to be
good farmers and they can be paid depending on how you transact with them. He can also raise poultry farm in Cagayan
bacause the climate here is best for poultry animals. There are so much things to do to in this place to gain profit.
Cagayanos are also known to be vegetarian so raising vegetable farms will be a great agri-business. In this way, Jeff can
be one of the top producers of poultry and other agricultural products not only in Luzon but Philippines in general.
