EXPLORE SOGIE BILL:

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression Equality Bill

This is the uphill battle we as a nation are facing today, one that the SOGIE Equality Bill
hopes to address, in part.

“The SOGIE Equality Bill recognizes the LGBTQ++ as equals and ensures that their
rights are protected inasmuch as everyone’s is,” – Ma. Jiandra Bianca F. Deslate. LGBT stands
for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. Indeed that its definition will redefine genders. Here
are things you need to know:

WHERE THE BILL DOES FOCUSES

 GENDER IDENTITY
- Their gender is based on their perception regardless of their assigned sex at birth. It
is their right to identify themselves whether they’re male or female. They will be the
one who’ll assign their gender based on what they feel and with what they’re
comfortable with.

 TRANSGENDER
- Transgender people may be identified as lesbian, bisexual, gay, heterosexual, or some
other sexual orientation. It encompasses the people who live substantial portions of
their lives expressing an innate sense of gender other than their sex assigned at birth.
Their identity differs from their assigned sex. It is when that someone was born a
male be but believes he’ a female and vice versa.

 HOMOSEXUAL
- From the greek word “homo” which means “same”. It is a preference of affiliation
and sexual activity with a person of the same sex. They are attracted with their same
gender and not being interested with the opposite sex. A gay or a transwoman can be
identified as homosexual since they are attracted to their same gender, same with a
lesbian or a transman.
 BISEXUAL
- They are having sexual desire of the same and opposite gender. They can be attracted
to both men and women; they can be with a man and definitely with a woman.
Perhaps, still discovering their identity.

 TRANSSEXUAL
- Being a transsexual is being a transgender that believes that their gender does not
match their anatomy that they were born with so they wish for sexual medical
assistance for conversion from one sex to another. It is a full transition, perhaps a
change of their genitals of what you desire to be your gender.

WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT

 SHELTER OF EQUALITY.
- It protects those who are mentioned above and give them the equal service and equal
orientation in both private and public places.

 IT IS NOT A DISORDER.
- It will protect them from being force or obliged to take any medical psychological
examination without approval, unless minor.

 NO MORE FAKING.
- It prohibits detention or profiling that imposes harsher penalties and restrictions
against students or trainees who are applying for a job because of it.

 ACCEPTED.
- Institution will be unable to refuse or even revoke accreditation, registration or any
formal recognition to any groups, organizations, and political parties.

At last, it is suppose to build amity in the society by pushing through this bill that
requires equality in everyone.
