Experience

The issue of my inmate is about child abuse which falls in Republic Act 7610: Protection
against child abuse, exploitation and discrimination. It is when elderly are doing so much danger to
the children; suffered either orally, writing or even physically that may cause anxiety, depression in a
young age. Every time that I can hear about this issue, I feel hurt to those children because why
should they still experience that suffering when children are meant for having fun and it can really
affect their attitude and also their behavior as a human being. It affects the people around who are
witnessing this issue and by them; maybe some can be influenced by this issue while the other
people will learn from this mistake taken by the society.

Analysis

Uneducated parents or elders are the one who are doing this because of some heavy
problems they’ve encountered in life at the same time they don’t have enough jobs and they don’t
know what to do then they are stressing out it towards their children through maltreatment. These
people are doing this abusive doings because of the drugs they have taken, and we all know what
will be the the effect of the drugs in our health and minds. Also, there are parents that they
perspective in life is they want that their children will always obey what they really want and go to
the point that if their children are not doing it, they can think of some punishment. These
punishments tend to be massive that causes abusive doings. In our economy, the unemployed are
rising so it is one of the reasons that this situation continues. Also, as we all know the issue about
the drugs, it also rising so people who were taken it will really have the big possibility in doing this
child abuse because as they know that children don’t have enough strength to fight back.

Faith Reflection
According to the bible in the book of Genesis 33:5, they are the children God has graciously
given your servant, we can understand that children are blessings to every couple for these are the
gift of the their love to each other. Also, the church recognizes the family to be the most
foundational social structure, and sees the proper rearing of children, its most important purpose.
So, the parents, the elderly should really and it’s their job to take good care of the children for they
are also the one who make these children. For the children should grow in a peaceful life for they
can have a healthy life in terms of physical, mental, emotional at the same time spiritual.

Action
As an atenean, I can share the Ignatian values to those parents and elderly who are less
educated for them to remind themselves on how to treat their children. Also, I can make an
organization or volunteer to an organization to have seminars about this issue, even to those
educated ones. They should also be reminded on how to treat, take good care of their children
because as we all know, children is the next generation and they should be teach a good values
because it is one of the most important, the attitude. By the help of the others, with different
strategies, also in connect with the government; we can make a change to this people through the
testimonies of the others who have changed their lives. It will be successful if the reports of this
issue which is child abuse will decrease, parents and the elderly have learned towards this issue.
