A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science V

I. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the period, the Grade 5 pupils should be able to classify animals according to food they
eat.

1. Motivation

"Let us have a short guessing game. I will give


you the beginning letter of an animal and
corresponding food it eats. Guess what animal
is described."
"Do you have any question?" "None"

"Okay, let's start the game."
(Guess the animals with their names.)
Look at the picture everyone, what animal is
this?
(call a pupil) “Ma’am the name of that animal that eats grass is

“How about this food? “That animal is bear!”

“Ma’am the name of that animal is dog!”

“Are these animals eat the same kind of food?

“Because goats only eat grass or leaves.”

Very good! What else? “Bears eat meat of other animals.”

Excellent! Any other idea? “The dog eats rice, fruits, meat and vegetables.”

2. Presentation
“Our lesson for today is about Classifying
animals according to the food they eat: The
Herbivores, Carnivores, Omnivores. But before (watching attentively)
that I’ll show you a video clip/pictures of
animals. Observe the animals on what they are
doing.”

3. Developmental Activity
"I need three groups with members; we are
going to have a simple game."
(form three groups)
"I will give each group 3 minutes to pick the
names of animals inside the envelope. Each
group will classify the activity cards inside the
envelope and paste it in a manila paper. If you (listen attentively)
are done pasting, the group will post the manila
paper on the board. If the group classified it
correctly, they will get 9 points, and if they
work silently they will get another 1 point."
(Each group will have members of 14.)
