3. Name of Supervisor: Mr. Abhishek Gupta

4. Objective of the project: The project is designed to develop a touch sensitive switch
board based on sensor to control resistor loads.

5. Detailed Methodology to be used for carrying out the project: As the

project is based on a touch to ON and OFF the devices, touch plates or touch sensors are
important parts of this project. A touch switch apparatus for detecting the presence of an
object such as an human appendage, the apparatus having a switch and a local control
circuit connected to the switch and to a controlled device. The control circuit is preferably
in integrated circuit form electronic ON/OFF switch for a load connected to an AC supply
network, including controlled semiconductor switch connected in a series circuit with the
load, control circuit.

The touch On and OFF switch circuit is build around a 8-bit 8051 microcontroller by
making use of the default properties of the pins of the 8051 microcontroller IC. With the
help of this circuit, we can turn ON and OFF a device by simply touching the touch plate
or sensor. The important feature of this circuit is that we will not get any electrical shock
which sometimes get while using the normal switches, even though we are using touch
plates.

6. place /labs/equipment and tools required and planning of arrangement:

Place= Project Lab
Components= 8-bit 8051 microcontroller, ULN2003 relay, AT89S52 microcontroller,
programmable flash memory, touch plates, connecting leads.

7. Work Plan: The project is designed to develop a touch sensitive switch board based on
sensors to control any resistive loads. A 8-bit 8051 microcontroller is used to drive a relay
to switch ON a load for desired time duration. The microcontroller is supplied inputs by a
touch sensor connected to its input pins

The output of microcontroller drives a relay by the help of ULN2003 relay control IC
which in turn switch ON the loads for that duration and afterwards switch OFF by the
load touching the sensor second time .

8. Applications of Project :
1. Easy User Interface- Touch paradigm offers intuitive, easy to use natural way to
interact.
2. Augmenting Physical Environment- Touch system provides a way to connect physical
and digital worlds, which can be achieved by tagging physical objects with touch
tags.
3. Personalization Of Services- Wide set of mobile services and functions will be
available for users in the future touch system is the key for personalization of these
services.
4. Openness- Since touch system is available for all parties, persons can create their own
“touch based” environments: touch system supports open innovation and innovations
can be created produced by everyone.

5. Interconnection- Touch paradigm is a glue for interconnection. Touch sensor can be
used for connecting devices fast and easily together. Moreover, touch system enables
new ways of creating interconnected experiences between different application
domains.
