Jaguar Band Course Outline

Students will demonstrate responsibility in maintenance and care for their instrument and any equipment.
Objectives

Students will perform independently with the posture, breath control and tone quality that is appropriate for each
instrument.
Students will perform with expression on a variety of musical genres.
Students will perform in a group blending instrumental timbres, matching dynamic levels and performing in tempo,
while responding to the conductor.
Students will be expected to read, perform and comprehend music notation and theory at a minimum of the
proficiency level.

Grading Scale

A 90% - 100% Above Standards


B 80% - 89% Meets Standards
C 70% - 79% Approaching Standards
D 60% - 69% Below Standards
U 0% - 59% Substantially Below Standards
I Incomplete work due to absence must be completed within two weeks of the next grading period. If
the work is not completed within that time, the student's grade is recorded as Unsatisfactory (U).
Engagement

Participation Students are expected to have ALL Materials for each class.

Students are expected to maintain a Music Folder, which consists of


Journals/Logs/Folder band music, book, handouts and graded papers. A Notebook will be
used for DBA's and Practice Journals.

RULES

All students should...

1. be on time and prepared.

2. respect people and equipment.

3. speak or play instrument at the appropriate time

4. leave things BETTER than you find them.

5. not chew gum (or anything), eat food or drink.

Intervention 3: NI in conduct, Parent Conference
Intervention 4: Parent Contact, Lunch Detention & Before/After School Detention
Post-Intervention: U in Conduct & Referral to Grade Level Assistant Principal

Severe Disruption: sent immediately to office, a referral is issued and parents are contacted.

Note : All infractions carry through each grading period.
