Correct the sentences that are incorrect.

4 The actress looked stunning in a silver, elegant, long evening dress.

5 Those high-heeled, leather boots must be difficult to walk in!

Aims  To review clothing vocabulary and adjective word order


Time  10−15 minutes
Materials  1 handout for each student
• Give each student a copy of the handout and ask them to
complete task A. Do the first one together as an example.
• Check answers and ask students to justify their choices.
1 plain (the others are patterns)
2 beanie (the others are worn on feet)
3 leggings (the others are types of jacket / top)
4 gaudy (the other adjectives are positive)
5 combat trousers (the others are usually only worn by women)
6 logo (the others are ways to fasten clothing / footwear)
7 laces (the others are parts of a shirt)
8 baggy (the others are textures)
9 cool (the other adjectives usually have negative meanings)
• Before students do task B, review the rules on adjective word
order. Alternatively, this could be done when checking the
answers.
1 Sally wore a fantastic, old, lacy wedding dress.
2 ✓
3 My favourite handbag is a huge, red one.
4 The actress looked stunning in an elegant, long, silver
evening dress.
5 ✓
• Divide the class into pairs and tell them to ask and answer
the questions in task C, giving as much detail as possible.
