“Friend or war with China Is better option for the Philippine economy”

The territorial dispute with china over the west phillipine sea is still on going. It is

started when the china banned the filipino fisherman around scarborough shoal.There

were arguments that the Philippine government should not have solely relied on

international courts to manage the country’s most pressing national security concern: the

maritime disputes in the West Philippine Sea. Some commentators pointed out that the

Philippines depended heavily on other countries (particularly the United States), that the

government seemed complacent and lax in handling the disputes, that Filipinos could

never retrieve the West Philippine Sea, and that the country was lacking external security

and losing in its strategy. However, what these commentators missed was that filing an

arbitration case against China formed only one part of a broader strategic framework.

Indeed, the legal approach was not out of desperation but a deliberate component of the

Philippine strategy on the West Philippine Sea.

As a filipino citezen, I strongly disagree with this matter. Consistently honest and

truthful in your actions regardless of the consequences, even if it means self-sacrifice on

your part. This means doing an act because it is the right thing to do, even if you are alone

against many. This means firmly standing by your principles, though the heavens may

fall, To protect our territorial integrity requires doing what is right in service to the Filipino

people regardless of the consequences. To protect our territorial integrity requires

personal integrity. If you lose your personal integrity, many doors will close on you. Your

friends will be wary of you, your business associates will not trust you, and the public will

be skeptical with whatever you say or do. There is a heavy price to pay for losing your

personal integrity. That is why you should always protect your personal integrity, and
safeguard it like you are safeguarding your very own life. Your personal integrity is your

face to the world, it is how the world sees you. Surely, you do not want to present a face

that drives people away from you.

West Philippine Sea showed that the Chinese government violated its obligation

to protect the marine environment through tolerance of Chinese illegal fishing, massive

land reclamation and the construction of artificial islands. China, however, openly rejected

the arbitral award and continues to push with its militarization in the area. The Duterte

administration, meanwhile, decided to set aside the award and engage Asia’s largest

economy in bilateral talks.

It is our property; we, Filipinos, should fight for things that belong to us, we should

not let other countries claim ours. When we gave up our island, it looks like we waste our

National Heroes efforts before. However, it is important to have a good communication to

them, given the fact that they're called "the sleeping giant", because of their products and

company some of us can afford a quality living. But, it doesn't mean that I am agreeing

with the said issue. Our territorial integrity is just like our personal integrity. We must

maintain, protect and defend both with all the power at out command because they are

priceless.
